This tournament is pretty weird. Call it a city championship but just invite the top finishing country from every region?

Group B : Hungary, China, Azerbaijan and Canada :D
It would be great news if the flight didn't cost at least 3000$...

          The first question is:
          Who is willing to go?

              Organizer should pay everyone's airfare.

Why not try to form a team if you are serious about going? I would be interested in going next year, assuming there is one next year.

I think part of it will depend on the success of this years event. Canada sending a team would help. There is no other country in our zone.

If we have 4 players willing to pay all expenses, I don't see a reason why the CFC couldn't register such Team.
Chess level doesn't matter - in any case chances of a Canadian Team to advance to knock-out stage are very slim... :(

Why not organize an inter-city championship in Canada and send the winning team to the event? It might be a good way to get sponsors, for example a big company sponsoring a local team to get community visibility.

                          You're absolutely right, Claude!

Canadian inter-city championship is the best way to qualify a team for World City Team Championship.

You probably know that the CFC Tournament Coordinator is working already on such event:

                          The problem is:
The first Canadian Team Championship is scheduled for 2013, while the World Cities Team Championship 2012 regulations say:
"Entry shall be submitted by the National federation in the attached registration form on or before 31st October 2012"... :(

I don't see the difficulty. All that is necessary is a team which represents a city. The rules don't say they should have won anything. The flyer also says national team members may be on a city team.

My work in progress does not preclude Canada's participation in this event.

We just need to come very fast with a fair way to qualify a team.

Before talking about a qualifier, do we have at least one team to send? The first step would be to make a list of interested teams.
