    On becoming a GM, Eric says (through various responses in the interview) that there are no secret techniques, it's not about having a special genius, it takes hard work, and always seek out stronger players.

      Alan,

      I believe that was Alexandre LeSiege's philosophy as well. He also preferred to analyse his own games more than the games of other grandmasters as it was more productive for him to find his own weaknesses to work on.

      Well, they must have done some things right to become GM's :)
