  • A must see...not chess related...

I had the privilege to see Leonard Cohen at the Bell Centre in Montreal last week...it was incredible!

The best live show I have ever experienced!

He appears in Toronto Dec 4 (sold out) and Dec 5...a must see!

Ditto - my family took it in - he's energentic, shares the stage graciously with his ensemble, and did two encores of a couple of songs each. Also one of the best shows I've seen.

He is incredible. I had the pleasure of meeting him in the first year of Luminato (2007) when my wife arranged to get his art exhibited at a Yorkville gallery. Phillip Glass put his 'Book of Longing' to music at Luminato that year. We have 3 prints of Mr Chohen's drawings hanging on our walls at home.

My favourite rendition of Hallelujah would be K.D. Lang, which she did 2 years ago at a free concert for Luminato at David Pecaut Square. Followed by Rufus Wainwright who does a a fabulous interpretation and also has a daughter who is Leneord Cohen's grand daughter. Small world.

Here is an adaptation of Cohen's Hallelujah, with his permission:

          Ian,

If you think it is better than the Vancouver Olympic performance, can you post a link, please, if available?

I found a link to the preformance at Luminato in June 2011 at David Pecaut Square. Not sure about the quality, but I was in the front row, so it was a big thrill.

I was also thinking of that particular version... I remember watching that live (on my television - not in person) and thinking it was fantastic.

Seems that Foglia was also attending. Great review of this concert in today's "La Presse" by Foglia.

In my opinion her 2005-2006 performances are far superior.

                            For example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYiMJ2bC65A
                            And: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_NpxTWbovE

The second is my favourite but the audio quality is better on the first.

I finally got around to looking at this....wow wow wow...it brought me back...he is totally incredible! Nope I am not in that part of the crowd...those tickets were selling for about $300 :)

Some will hate it...some will like it..some will love it...Cohen is a National treasure in my mind!
