  • looking for Ontario-Quebec holiday tournaments

Hi there, I am looking for a tournament(s) to play in between Boxing Day and New Year's.

Any recommendations? I am in Ottawa, and do not mind travelling a bit in Ontario-Quebec.

Thanks, and if you are from Ottawa-Gatineau, maybe it works for us to share expenses.

There's the Pere-Noel tournament in Montreal from December 26 to December 30. 2700$ in guaranteed prizes. Open section is FIDE/CFC/FQE rated

Do you have a pre-registered list or expected players?

Du Couvent is the entrance - 2nd and 3rd floors above (and at the rear of) a fire station (yes - alarms and sirens have gone off in the past during tournaments - but not loudly enough to disturb the players).

There is a link to advance entries on the French Chesstalk.

Yes, that would have been awesome, but need to be closer to here, for family stuff! :)

Thanks Hugh, any advice on parking in the area? (as I'll probably drive in last minute!)

                      Hugh,

Are the games from Championnat ÉLITE POM du Québec available on-line?

                      Thank you

I believe there is lots of free parking on the nearby streets. (although Notre-Dame has meters). Also - it's only a block away from the Place St-Henri metro station.

...and the GM's will probably wait until the last minute before entering. (but without them - there would be more prize money for everyone else).

94 games (just about all that were played) will be available on the next CanBase update - before the end of the month.

Most stronger players wait until the last minute, unfortunately.

Maybe you can take a look at the participants last year : http://www.fqechecs.qc.ca/cms/cotes/tournois/id/4058

                            Or the year before :
                            http://www.fqechecs.qc.ca/cms/cotes/...id/3847/100140

As Hugh mentionned, the pre-registered list is here :

                            http://www.fqechecs.qc.ca/cms/cotes/tournois/id/4058

Don't ask me why, but not all the ratings are indicated.

Felix, I hope that you can help me further :

I went to the website, which mentions using a phone or email, but I cannot find the number nor address in the ad. I would need that, as I might take a bye for round 1.

                              Merci, et bien a vous.
