  • Chess.ca ratings page useless

I am trying to search for a certain player on the CFC ratings list on my iphone but the chess.ca ratings page is so poor it isn't loading. This is quite sad and disappointing. The CFC never fails to disappoint....

I think the page is not mobile friendly. Try other browser which gets you a normal page (it is a workaround, not a proper solution.)

Yes Andy, and the critics never fail to complain. :(
It used to be CFC ratings were scheduled every 3 weeks. They were often late, often very late and unreliable. I recall one summer, maybe 15-20 years ago, where months went by, no ratings.

But now, they are done every wednesday. A couple of times it has been thursday for technical reasons etc. But incredibly reliable. It has been over 5 years now, updates every week, that's 267 (+-) weeks without fail.

But, Bob, it does not work on HIS mobile device. Notwithstanding the fact that the CFC did not promise it would work on mobile devices (as far as I have ever read and I am sure I will be told quickly if I am wrong!), the CFC now should make sure it works on ALL mobile devices. Never mind how good the service is and has been.

As you say, the CFC haters (Oops! critics) can always find a reason to go public with picayune concerns.

Who was responsible for producing the ratings at the time?

I have never tried to access the website from an iphone, but I suspect that the mobile version should work.

I have to trouble with my Android using either the regular or mobile version of the page.

Most of webpages work on Android but the rating requests. Don't have an iphone to test.

As a temporary solution, you can click the "View Full Site" link.

With the iPhone 4S, one can search the CFC ratings with the "view full site" - but it doesn't like it in mobile mode.
