Re: Eric Hansen @ Karpos tourney in MCD

NCO recommends 10.Nb1. It also lists 4.Qxd4 as better than 4.Nxd4; Paul Morphy preferred the Queen recapture, it is worth noting!

GM Eric Hansen is playing some absolutely amazing chess. His best games are utterly awesome. As a 20-year-old, newly-minted GM, he has taken down many international players in dazzling style in the past few months. :)

Interesting are his losses as Black in a Lion (similar to a Philidor in many ways) to GM Fedorchuk at Capelle La Grande, and as White against the Philidor to GM Stevic at Skopje. I think he will learn from those. Now, both opponents are 2600+, so no shame in losing, but Eric is improving quickly, so I don't expect to see him struggle again the way he did against Stevic in that variation. Black gets sharp play unless countered precisely!

I'm sure you know the continuation better than I do.
