Toronto vs Ottawa vs Montreal vs Quebec

It was an Active Chess round robin of four-player teams. Most important thing: I remember that Ottawa won. ;-)

Our team in board order:

Deen Hergott, Tom O'Donnell, Gordon Taylor, Sebastian Predescu

Montreal (not sure about the board order, except board two was for sure correct):

Thomas Roussel-Roozmon, Eric Lawson, Jean Hebert, Goran Mikanovic

Toronto (again, not sure about board order but board two was right):

Igor Zugic, Ron Livshits, Zhe Quan, Nikolay Noritsyn

I can't recall who played for Quebec City except that my opponent was Francois(?) Caire and that Gordon Taylor and his opponent (edit: I think Rejean Tremblay) played some incredible game, which unfortunately Gordon lost. Also Zhe was rather ill and against Gordon walked into mate in a position something like:


White (Gordon): K/h3, R/a8, P/h4
Black (Zhe): K/h6, P/g7, h5, R/somewhere

The game continued ...Rg6 Rh8#

The after tournament dinner was great, too.

That would be great. Not sure if the OCA would be ready to give $500 for it though (anybody reading this involved in the OCA?).

Hi Tom, Quebec city, in order of board: Antoine Bérubé who just have finished 1st at COQ in summer 2005, François Caire, Réjean Tremblay and Nicolas Audet-Bouchard.

The OCA used to spend money for the Ontario Team Championship which would have the winning teams from the leagues of the Eastern Ontario, Greater Toronto, and SouthWestern meet in Kingston or Belleville. Teams from all three regions have won.

I would prefer money to go to a Canadian inter-city league played over the internet.
