Re: 2013 KW June Quick Team Tournament

    Hi Bob,

I am not sure about #2. My understanding is that one of the teams is determined to be "white". They get white on Board 1 and they sit first. I believe normal colour alternation rules apply.

#1 and #3 are related. The scoring system is 8, 7, 6 and 5 board points where draw splits the points. This is to discourage the strategy of putting the best players on boards 2, 3 and 4 and tanking board 1.

    Scenarios

    1. DRAW All boards draw.
    2. DRAW Team A wins Boards 1 and 4, Team B wins Boards 2 and 3.
    3. WIN If equal number of wins, team with win on higher board wins.
    4. WIN Team with more board victories wins.

    Does this make sense?

Does scenario #3 only refer to a 1 win/3 draws each situation? If it was 2 wins apiece, scenario #2 would apply (or does Team A win, with a win on a higher board?).

Maybe it is easier to think of it as scenarios in terms of number of decisive games:

        0 decisive games DRAW
1 decisive game WIN for the team that won
2 decisive games WIN for the team that won on the higher board (obviously win also for the team if it won both games)
3 decisive games WIN for the team that won 2 games (or 3 games)
4 decisive games WIN for the team that won Board 1 unless :p it also won Board 4 in which case it is a DRAW.

Moral of the story: Put your best player on Board 1.

I would like to register Knights of Chess Team. Probably, not exactly the same line-up which surprizingly won last year tournament.
