OK, So it's January and there is no hint of the "new improved" online magazine. If it's going to be delayed then fine. Let us know.

Re: Online Magazine
Hi Rick:
On the CFC Chess Forum yesterday, Jan. 6, ED Bob Gillanders said in a post that CFC is " currently focused on achieving 3 goals,
1. .............
2. Giving birth to the webzine
3. ............... "
So, in Bob's words, they are still " focused " on the on-line Chess Canada . But he didn't give any clear date.

I think the American spelling for cheque is check. Our CC publication is called Check! and comes in the mail 4 times a year.Gary Ruben

Re: Online Magazine
Hi David:
Bob gave a target date on CFC Chess Forum of January 19 or earlier:

Bob Gillanders
CFC Executive Director

The long awaited CFC online magazine is almost ready. We are starting the 10 day launch countdown today. That means we go online January 19, 2009 by midnight or sooner.

Re: Online Magazine
Originally posted by David Cohen View PostThe development of the online magazine is coming along nicely. Bob is busy with the shutting down of the condo - closing date is Jan.15 - but will soon announce the webzine's birth date.
The Condo sale won't help chess or recruitment one way or the other, in my view. I had been hoping they would come out of this with their own online server and a plan for using it to run separately rated events to supplement the face to face events (not to replace them) and recruitment. Some events free with membership and some pay as you play. Online seems to be the way chess is going. Even the CCCA has implemented server events on the ICCF server as the result of an agreement with them.
I could be wrong but it looks to me like the online servers are eating the CFC's lunch. They are here and they are now.Gary Ruben
