You have correctly stated that there are a whole lot of negative aspects in any political action. Hence an LG has no right to enact any laws or pass any presidential decree... all it can do is enforce the Natural Law. The Carbon tax was the only sensible measure which they took in their entire recent tenure, but for the sake of 'votes' (which you love so much yourself!), gave it up...
