Hello everybody! I am Harmony Zhu.

I am really happy to see all these nice comments from you. To me, winning WYCC is like another dream come true! My first dream was to perform at Carnegie Hall, which came true twice this year already! This is my second dream and that came true too!

Thank you so much, George Zhou, Jack Maguire, Garvin Nunes, Mikhail Egorov, Gerry Litchfield, Hal Bond, Gordon Ritchie, Andy Shaw, Kerry Liles, Hugh Siddeley, Bob Gillanders, Vlad Drkulec, for encouraging me, supporting me and writing all these nice comments for me! It really means a lot to me!

I also want to thank my coach Nikolay Noritsyn! I have been to Philip Chess School from time to time and the teacher there, Erwin Casareno, encouraged and helped me a lot!! Back in Vancouver, the founder and teacher of the Golden Knights Chess Club, Eugen, has always been a great support to me over the years!!! Thank you guys!!!! You are great!!!!! Bye!:)

The Team South Africa Facebook page they noted as the source of their photos (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Team-...18242894860508) has hundreds of excellent close-up shots, broken into albums by round. I spotted all but one of the Canadian U-8 players — Harmony, Aahil, Mysha, Nicholas, Kevin and Rowan (with frequency roughly in this order).

Congratulations to Harmony from Max and me. :)

Will Harmony be considered for 2014 Women Chess Olympic Team? In my opinion, she should seriously be considered.

Thank you for clarification. I was following regulations which expired this summer on June 30th, 2013: http://www.fide.com/fide/handbook.ht...4&view=article.

I did not take into account new rules, that were effective July 1, 2013: http://www.fide.com/fide/handbook.ht...3&view=article.

I find it a bit odd that there hasn't been a single Canadian news item re Harmony winning her gold medal and yet the U.S. hypes the so-called 4th place finish of their Maggie Ni. The "placed 4th" is quite the stretch since Maggie's 7.5 was only good enough for joint 10th to 16th.

Good to point out Jack - but it might be as simple as someone approaching the local press. Was that done? Anyways I noticed I failed to post congratulations to Harmony before and I would like to do so! World Champion Harmony Zhu! - what a way to start a chess career! and my personal favorite - Harmony's charm which can be seen by all at her interview on the video above.
