  • Question about CFC rating changes

As Canada's weakest National Master I demand to know what happened during the rating of the Annex Chess Club Championship. How did I gain 147 points from 5 games?! And don't tell me it's from bonus points because I already used those up a long time ago. My reputation can't sustain such rating gains.

    2284 2231 1963 2157 2065=10700.10700:-5=2140.
    2140-1933=207.207x70%=144.9.144.9 2=146.9.
It looks like you got 2 bonus points.Congratulations.

As per example in the Chess.ca, the opponents rating average is not calculated for players with established ratings.
see http://chess.ca/handbook#section-4 and 425. SAMPLE CALCULATION

          My calculations:
opponent diff (Opponent - 1933) Expected score Actual
          2231 298 0.15 1
          2284 351 0.11 0
          1963 30 0.46 0.5
          2157 224 0.22 1
          2065 132 0.32 1
          . . . .
          . Sum Expect 1.26 (Sx) 3.5 (S)
          Then goes a formula
          Code:
          Rn = Ro (plus) 32 * (S - Sx) = 1933  (plus)  72 = 2005
As the final rating is 2080, total Bonus points were ~75. More than an actual rating gain :)
Was your coach B. Ivanov for this tournament? LOL

I love it when someone other than a kid earns some rating bonus points. Gives hope to the rest of us veterans.

As far as I'm concerned anyone under 55 is still a kid. :o

Which means they should be paying $ 30 instead of $ 48 if they are still treated as a kid ?

It would mean this if my prejudices as to who was a kid or not had any bearing on the CFC handbook rules. Alas for those seeking a discount my subjective feelings are not relevant to the CFC fees due.
