Re: CFC financial dealings with FIDE

Got about half dozen of emails - so far NOT at least ONE voting member can answer the question "WHO was the CFC's deal WITH?" LOUD and CLEAR... This why we need to see the paperwork and the money's trail.

Following Vlad's lead I'm going to publish soon my emails to the voting members.

Do not post my responses. They are confidential.

I know that Sasha is incapable of maintaining confidentiality so I was being somewhat pavlovian... Notice the comment further down about waving a red flag in front of a bull. So far Sasha is not getting much traction in trying to revisit the scene of his past defeats. Somehow he has managed to become a voting member so it is probably a good idea to squelch his nonsense particularly when we are at a sensitive juncture on several files.

The thread worked it's way round to this question: will Canada be getting a grant from FIDE to run tournaments, as promised?

Personally, I think the US sanctions amount to bullying, but the US is a very powerful bully.

If indeed the CFC is concerned about US sanctions against Kirsan/FIDE, might it not be more prudent to stop sending money to FIDE.

I mean, which would be worse, from the US point of view: taking a grant from person/organisation which is under sanction, or funding that organisation?
U.S. sanctions are not CANADA sanctions. If Bobby Fischer was a Canadian citizen, do you think what happened to himin the U.S would have been the same in CANADA.

You have my permission to publish your emails as long as you don't publish the email addresses.

Thank you very much! As soon as I'll get at least 10 requests from the readers here - I'll do exactly this!

The CFC Executive was not unanimous in its support of Kirsan's 2014 candidacy. I would appreciate it if people did not speak of the executive as a monolith.

As I recall it was +5=2 in favor to ENDORSE Ilyumzhinov. It means CFC through its EXECUTIVES (monolith or not) has PUBLICLY announced its choice! So CFC could get a few more handouts here and there. And now what?

There are Governors/Voting Members who are sitting there for generations and will die without ever resigning just to make sure that people who CAN actually MAKE the DIFFERENCE could NOT get elected. Therefore they'd rather let CFC to continue to exist in its mediocrity... What a cruel and unusual punishment for Canadian organized chess...

Aside from life voting members the bulk of the voting members have to stand for election every year. There is usually a significant turnover every year. Don't let the facts get in the way of a good rant.
