General Guidelines
---- Nous avons besoin d'un traduction français!
Some Basics
1. Under Board "Frequently Asked Questions" (FAQs) there are 3 sections dealing with General Forum Usage, User Profile Features, and Reading and Posting Messages. These deal with everything from Avatars to Your Notifications. Most general technical questions are covered there. Here is a link to the FAQs. https://forum.chesstalk.com/help
2. Consider using the SEARCH button if you are looking for information. You may find your question has already been answered in a previous thread.
3. If you've looked for an answer to a question, and not found one, then you should consider asking your question in a new thread. For example, there have already been questions and discussion regarding: how to do chess diagrams (FENs); crosstables that line up properly; and the numerous little “glitches” that every new site will have.
4. Read pinned or sticky threads, like this one, if they look important. This applies especially to newcomers.
5. Read the thread you're posting in before you post. There are a variety of ways to look at a thread. These are covered under “Display Modes”.
6. Thread titles: please provide some details in your thread title. This is useful for a number of reasons. It helps ChessTalk members to quickly skim the threads. It prevents duplication of threads. And so on.
7. Unnecessary thread proliferation (e.g., deliberately creating a new thread that duplicates existing discussion) is discouraged. Look to see if a thread on your topic may have already been started and, if so, consider adding your contribution to the pre-existing thread. However, starting new threads to explore side-issues that are not relevant to the original subject is strongly encouraged. A single thread on the Canadian Open, with hundreds of posts on multiple sub-topics, is no better than a dozen threads on the Open covering only a few topics. Use your good judgment when starting a new thread.
8. If and/or when sub-forums are created, please make sure to create threads in the proper place.
Debate
9. Give an opinion and back it up with a reason. Throwaway comments such as "Game X pwnz because my friend and I think so!" could be considered pointless at best, and inflammatory at worst.
10. Try to give your own opinions, not simply those copied and pasted from reviews or opinions of your friends.
Unacceptable behavior and warnings
11. In registering here at ChessTalk please note that the same or similar rules apply here as applied at the previous Boardhost message board. In particular, the following content is not permitted to appear in any messages:
* Racism
* Hatred
* Harassment
* Adult content
* Obscene material
* Nudity or pornography
* Material that infringes intellectual property or other proprietary rights of any party
* Material the posting of which is tortious or violates a contractual or fiduciary obligation you or we owe to another party
* Piracy, hacking, viruses, worms, or warez
* Spam
* Any illegal content
* unapproved Commercial banner advertisements or revenue-generating links
* Any link to or any images from a site containing any material outlined in these restrictions
* Any material deemed offensive or inappropriate by the Board staff
12. Users are welcome to challenge other points of view and opinions, but should do so respectfully. Personal attacks on others will not be tolerated. Posts and threads with unacceptable content can be closed or deleted altogether. Furthermore, a range of sanctions are possible - from a simple warning to a temporary or even a permanent banning from ChessTalk.
Helping to Moderate
13. 'Report' links (an exclamation mark inside a triangle) can be found in many places throughout the board. These links allow users to alert the board staff to anything which is offensive, objectionable or illegal. Please consider using this feature if the need arises.
Advice for free
14. You should exercise the same caution with Private Messages as you would with any public posting.
I believe the South Park analysis of the election is spot on with respect to the character of the two choices. I would provide a link but its not appropriate for kids and the first result on youtube is an anti-Semitic rant against South Park.
IF these allegations are true then he should be disqualified. IF the allegations against Hillary are true then she should be disqualified and I include the allegations against Bill Clinton and Hillary's apparent role as an enabler including attacking and threatening the women alleging assaults. Recall that Monica Lewinsky was not believed at first but she kept a souvenir blue dress which gave proof that Bill Clinton was a liar and led to his impeachment.
In the South Park episode the Trump character is trying unsuccessfully to tank his election because he doesn't have a plan for winning.
I heard speculation that Trump may be a trojan horse candidate capable of winning the Republican primaries but fatally flawed and unable to win the general election back when it still seemed possible that one of the other Republicans might beat him. If that is the case, well played Hillary.
We get the leaders we deserve. The choices for this election mean that the U.S. is likely to suffer a cataclysmic reality slap in the near future whichever of these two candidates win. There should be a none of the above option which I suspect would have a good chance of obraining a majority if it were an option.
In most states (maybe even all of them), there will be 2 "none of the above" candidates for President. A Libertarian candidate and a Green Party candidate.... sounds like the opening to a joke. Anyway, together they are barely getting 10% in the polls. The vast majority in America still do believe that the President must be either Republican or Democrat. But anyone would be hard-pressed to show definitively that other countries like Italy (or even Canada) that have many different parties actually have a better political system.
Only the rushing is heard...
Onward flies the bird.
And Paul, I know that when push comes to shove, deep down in your heart of hearts, there are much more important concerns than who the f'k is president anyways.
We know in Life there are some matters which concern us all, and are far greater than other matters.
Love ... being the mostest of the them all.
Not the kind of love that smiles on a dog. Not the kind of love that goes to church only on Sunday. But the kind of Love that lays down its Life ... regardless of circumstance.
A little bit more about me: In 2011 I upped my first public graphic to my tumblr ... love won ... long time before it was fashionable.
Tonight, here in the EST, 5ive years on I finally launched its website:
Clinton campaign that has the "Love Trumps Hate" signs.
Thx, I haven't seen that one from Clinton. Just figures she would use love as a weapon ...sigh.
***
Several countries with harsh rules for women and that kill gays have contributed to the Clinton Foundation both before and after her tenure at the State Department.
And while she was at the State Department ...we all know too much about that don't we Paul.
R.I.P. Ambassador Chris Stevens
And all those missing and hacked emails which expose her true nature, not to mention the tapes, the destruction of federal evidence ... etc.,etc.,etc..
***
So Paul when you get a moment away from your keyboard take some time and reflect on the nature of her character. And then get involved! and fight the good fight ... pen a letter to her foundation and pen another letter to the grieving family of Ambassador Chris Stevens.
Shine ya light bro ... shine ya light.
k?

But that will never happen because during that 30-day period, we'll renegotiate a better deal for our country, OK? And you the other way, you can't terminate. There's too many -- it's -- people go crazy. You have to be like a grand chessmaster, and we don't have any of them.
The consensus as to Donald Trump’s psychiatric issues is nearly unanimous. “Textbook narcissistic personality disorder,” according to clinical psychologist Ben Michaelis, quoted in Vanity Fair. He is just one of many who have reached the same conclusion. Noting his motor mouth, chronic inability to pay attention and shockingly deficient impulse control, others diagnosed Trump as a severe case of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Tony Schwartz, Trump’s ghostwriter for his 1987 bestseller, The Art of the Deal, reported that his client had no attention span and fidgeted “like a kindergartner who cannot sit still.”

His polls are dropping and he appears to have become totally unhinged,
however, until his polls drop to single digits, I'm still worried this psychopath may win.

Seems that Trump will get more African Americans voting for him than anyone thought possible a month ago, or even two weeks ago.
While many analysts dismiss Donald Trump’s chances of winning over Black voters, the Republican nominee has an unlikely ally making his case -- the founder of a group that once rallied Black voters for Bernie Sanders.
Bruce Carter, who led "Black Men for Bernie," told FoxNews.com he had a change of heart after he traveled to urban communities and saw the levels of poverty in Democrat-controlled areas of the country.
“Donald Trump is the best presidential candidate, who I believe has the experience and the wherewithal to give urban communities economic and educational opportunities,”
Don't worry, its more likely that the other psychopath will win.
So easy to throw around those big words, without a clue as to what they mean! Perhaps we should get a professional reading on Vlad....it would not be reassuring.....

This site has become very scary......
Fwiw fred, Bob initially used the word I believe you refer to. I usually get along with both he & Vlad; anyone can go too far, if it is indeed too far. Btw, in this thread I think Neil is up to a little mischief, as he is a die-hard Liberal and I would expect him to unquestioningly root for the Democrats in any US election, with the caveat that ironically Trump has been politically liberal in the past, and Ms. Clinton has governed rather conservatively when in power. Paul is like the protypical chess player who will argue forever against the whole world that he is right, but this time he's part of a team, in this thread. I don't have Paul's staying power in the face of overwhelming flak, on chesstalk, so I usually bow out of a controversial thread after a while if I have zero allies. My not so professional reading of what is basically going on in this thread. I may be being a bit preachy, but I'm a little tired & a little sickened by the quality of the discourse, though it kind of reflects the US election, I suppose. I would vote for the Libertarian guy as the least bad choice, if I were eligible to do so, fwiw.

As they say in the psychopath world, it takes one to lack empathy for one. :)

What makes you think I don't know what the words mean? I think Trump is a narcissist. Given the totality of everything Hillary has done she is more on the psychopath/sociopath end of the scale though perhaps she is just a narcissist who has had the chance to do very bad things. These words are just labels. Real life is more complex. Hillary is more dangerous than Trump. She with the help of most of the media is a bit better at hiding it. When she has a public temper tantrum or Chelsea has a public temper tantrum the media aside from Fox and a few of the blogs hide it.
On this point we agree. The rest, not so much.
The media (well at least CNN) seems to believe Hillary has already won, but I'm still worried.
Celebrating too early could be a disaster.
Too many Americans simply vote for their party: Republican or Democratic, every time no matter what the issues or candidates. As somebody who has voted Conservative, Liberal, Reform, Alliance, NDP and Green; I don't understand that philosophy.

If Trump is elected (God forbid) it may not create as dangerous a situation as many people think. Personally, I think the Republican House and Senate caucuses would simply 'Rob Ford' him; i.e. the caucuses would become de facto President and control everything, including who controls the nuclear codes. If the Republicans should lose their House and/or Senate majorities, I'm sure Democrats could be found who be delighted to help stymie Trump.
