Hey everyone, there are 25 hours left to register, and we're happy to put Markham on the chess map with such a turnout. Will be an exciting tourney and should run smoothly thanks to our huge team of volunteers and planning. There will be a DGT board for the top tables and if we're lucky we'll be able to connect it...There won't be any on-site registrations since we want to start first round on time and have the pairings ready without delay. Looking forward to see all chess friends there!

Dear players and parents,

We're looking forward to hosting everyone tomorrow, and we will have the pairings for the sections tomorrow morning.

Unfortunately, we have run into problems with the York District School Board regarding how late we're allowed to stay at the school on Friday. Hence for round 1, we will have to adjust the time control for the U1800, U1400, U1000, and U700 sections to 1 hour +30 seconds increment.

We will keep the 90 min. +30 sec. time control for U2200 and Open sections. If the school board directors give us problems after 10:30, we will make special accommodations (adjourn to a different venue) to make sure any remaining games finish on Friday. This will not affect rounds 2-5.

We just received the notice this afternoon and it is still under negotiation. We’re sorry for the late change that was out of our control and will make sure to be punctual for all round times.

1. Players should plan on arriving 30 mins in advance for announcements since the clock will start at 7 pm sharp.
2. The tournament will provide scoresheets.
