What a great idea to do the lowest section as a one day! I was thinking of the idea with 5 rounds with rounds 1, 3 and 5 coinciding with start of the regular rounds.

As a father of a young player, I am not sold on the idea of blocking off a whole weekend so my child can play ~2 hours of chess. There seems to be a vacuum between 20-25min and 2-hour time control and really like your idea.

In the short run it may lead to slightly lower revenues. But it can be a great bridge between kids'/quick tournaments and full adult weekenders.

Yes, one day is a better fit for most of the kids under 900, and we expect kids between 900-1000 will playup :)

Tony, you can also consider the Oakville CYCC Qualifier on March 2nd, it will be an interesting experience, 5 games in one day, 40+30 delay, the delay will be different to most other tournament

For Aurora Open, juniors (<20 years) rated 1 - 999 can choose JU1000 (one day; 4 rounds; $50) or U1300 (two days; 5 rounds; $80).

I love playing the Aurora tournaments now in the lovely renovated Old Market (Townhall?) building in Newmarket, Ont. (A short drive from Aurora). I play it whenever I can.

I'm still negotiating the upcoming one with my long-term partner! LOL

But I'd still like to support it, even if I may not be able to attend.

I'd encourage people to put it on their chess calendars if possible. Go once, and then, like everything, you've done your homework, gotten the "true" facts, and are ready to evaluate what you just went through.
