Alireza is a strange character, he has an immense talent for chess, Tal like, he plays awesome tactically. He's been 3 years in France, plays for France but he still doesn't speak french.
And now he wants a modeling career. What ? I don't understand. The guy has the chance to write history in chess and he may choose a modeling career. He's good looking but no Brad Pitt.

Maybe a future world champion. Too early to say but he surely is one of the top contenders right now. What a talent. Does anybody knows what's happening to Firouza ? Alireza is showing some Fischer's resemblance, good for chess, very bad in character.

Jorden Van Foreest has been very successful lately winning Tata Steel one year and then playing a big role this year for the winner by taking down the leader in a clutch win in the last round.
I wonder if he is still taking cold showers. Anyways he comes from an illustrious chess family. His sister Machteld is a very promising player and of course his brother is also a grandmaster. The family has had chess players for generations. His great grandfather (great grand uncle maybe?) played this game against a young Max Euwe in 1921 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Bc5 4.c3 Qf6 5.d4 exd4 6.e5 Qg6 7.cxd4 Bb4+ 8.Nc3 d6 9.0-0 Bxc3 10.bxc3 dxe5 11.d5 Bh3 12.Nh4 Qe4 13.dxc6 Qxc4 14.gxh3 Qxh4 15.Qd7+ Kf8 16.Ba3+ Ne7 17.cxb7 Re8 18.Qxe8+ Kxe8 19.b8=Q+ Kd7 20.Rad1+ Ke6 21.Qxh8 Qxh3 22.f3 1-0 Master Van Foreest was very forward with his attacking play in the opening but Euwe soon put him in his place.

Ding Liren will have lots to ponder before his match with Nepo. -2 at Tata Steel with only one win.

In the challengers Donchenko was better all game and ended with a win to give him 10 out of 13 ( 8 wins!) and +7. Amazing finish to a great tournament.

Big disappointment for Abdusattorov. He was leading all the way and then the collapse in the last game cost him first place.

It looks like Van Foreest is going to win, which means Anish Giri will be clear winner of Tata Steel.

Nordibek Abdusattorov is presently lost against Van Forrest, meaning that Giri is close to his biggest tournament win ever. Anish is a great player but he lacks finition not in that tournament, Anish is probably the best player on preparation. He is well prepared in almost all lines he plays. Congrats to Magsoogloo who is winning right against Aronian, if he wins he will be +1, a big turnaround for this young man. Magnus will also win against Erigasi which will put him at +3, not bad since he was at -2. Great tournament, great games.

That young Abdusattorov will be heartbroken but what a future that young kid has.

In the challengers L'Ami had a lot of fun sacking the exchange to retain the two bishops and catching the king by sneaking in on the H file and delivering checkmate.
