Rd1 GM Sambuev wins three minors for a queen and shows how its done with the extra pieces. IM Barron - GM Preotu White has two knights for a rook - why oh why a draw? Aaron Mendes starts well by winning a nice endgame.

Love that there are lots of strong players and especially strong players on board one every round.

Rd 2 Beautiful finish by Lefan Yang.

Its a future sign of greatness when a young lad wins endgames like this. (referring to Aaron Mendes)

Rd 2 Mahip Singh knocks out GM Razvan! what a finish!

GM Sambuev's game a joy to watch as he preserves his Nimzo knight and places it on e5 where it becomes the dominant piece.

Rd 2 Fireworks in Campbell - Chiku Ratte - so hard to defend - but White might have missed 35.Bg3

Ironic - of all the DGT boards in round 2 (are they the top eight boards?) it doesnt look as if White will score a win. So far six wins for Black.

Round 2 in the Crown section, 15 games... 2 draws, 2 white wins,11 black wins. And it's not even Halloween.

Rd 3 Following Sambuev - Mendes Great tactics and I would have loved to play 20...Nfxe4. Now the strategical implications of the game are puzzling me.
