Two of the longest games of the tournament are still happening in this round. Hans Niemann has gone past move 100 against Andrew Tang (all the rest in that section are draws) and Irina Krush's game got away from her and shes trying to survive with some kind of fortress (also past move 100)

Rd 8 Key pairing (and the one I'll be watching the most, along with Young Alice's game) Robson - Niemann. I think Ray Robson might solve Hans Niemann, although Hans is one wiley guy.

Rd 8 Women's Pairings Krush vs Yu. Irina Krush needs to make her move now and she owes Jennifer Yu. Of course also watch Young Alice. Yan - Lee Im rooting for Alice's 5th win in a row.

A lot of abrupt turnarounds in games in rd 8. Niemann blundered against Robson and lost. Caruana seemed winning and then made some not accurate moves and had to settle for a draw against Shankland. Sevian was better against Mishra but now looks losing.

In the womens Alice Lee could not win her endgame and had to settle for a draw. Tokhirjonova won her game against Zatonskih and is now in clear first with 7 out of 8.
Yip's position is creaking against Pourkashiyan, Can she hang on? Irina Krush is walking her king on a tightrope. Can she survive?

Pourkashiyan failed to solve Yip's super strong knight on f5 and then blundered. Fortunate break for Yip. It might be because of this Yip will go on to win the tournament. Yip is tied for first with 7 out of 8.

Mishra beat Sevian and is now in a massive 4 way tie for second with 4.5 out of 8. Caruana of course leads with one point ahead of the field. 3 rounds to go.

Its a two horse race in the womens. With 3 rounds left both Carissa Yip and Gulrukhbegim Tokhirjonova have 7 out of 8, two points ahead of the rest of the field.

Rd 9 The big news is that Caruana won. Niemann collapsed on the kingside. This puts Caruana at 6.5 out of 9 or plus 4.

Tokhirjonova crushed her opponent and goes to 8 out of 9. Carissa Yip could only draw and is now half a point back.
