GP-5 Tournament Summary
Open Section: Jared creates Havoc
The lowest seed Jared in the Open section was calm composed and devastating in few of the very close encounters to standout as Winner.
The Open Section featured four players — All (~1800) and
Top seed Anirud was not well before the start of the Tournament and his status went from Bad to worst and couldn’t play the last Round
Champion: Byers, Jared (3.5/4)
Jared With wins over Sanal, Top-seed Anirud and Callum was running off with the 1st place. In the last round, in a repeat encounter, Sanal gave a tough fight but in an equal position Jared offered a draw and was accepted
Runner-up: Sanal Kumar Nikul (2.5/4)
Previous GP-4 winner Sanal Kumar tried hard in the 1st game but after his loss with Jared, came back strong in other games to stand 2nd
Third Place: Yoker, Callum (1.5/4)
Callum getting back to Chess after couple of years was rusty but was able to draw with Anirud and stood 3rd
U1900 Section: Neel Madhav Dominates!
Champion: Valluru, Neel Madhav (4.5/5)
Neel after winning his 1st game was held to a draw with a strong game from Aditya. But he bounced back immediately, winning the remaining game and sweeping his matches against all other players. His comeback and consistency made him a worthy champion.
Runner-up: Kotapuri, Ruslan (4/5)
After his 1st game loss with Neel, Ruslan showed lots of Resilience to win all his remaining matches to stand a worthy second.
Bronze: Aditya Panchal (3/5)
With only 1 point after 3 Rounds, Aditya came back very strongly to win his last 2 games to come 3rd.
U1200 Section: Attai Suhail, the find of the Tournament!
Champion: Attai Suhail (5/5)
Suhail, an unrated player and his previous experience being playing online Chess was a revelation in the U1200 category.
His wins over all the Top-3 seeds showed the level he has reached
Runner-up: Sankaranaryan Sarvesh (4/5)
Sarvesh after winning his initial 2 Rounds faced a loss from Suhail. However, he left the disappointment behind to win the next games to stand second
Bronze: Manokar Nakul (3/5)
After losing his 1st game with Sarvesh and the next couple of them ending in draws, Manokar didn’t give up and stood focused to win the last 2 and stood 3rd.
Special Mention:
Attai Suhail in U1200 section was able to explore his inner Talent at a Professional level and came out Triumphs
