              EM-July 12th -GrandPri-6 Top-3 from each section

              GP-6 Tournament Summary

Open Section: GM Razvan Wins in Style with a Perfect 4/4

GM Razvan lived up to his name and title, demonstrating his class by confidently steering through each game to emerge the undisputed winner.
The Open Section featured four strong players with an average rating of 2066, making it a highly competitive event. Top seed GM Razvan Preotu showcased his trademark positional mastery and strategic precision, proving too strong for the rest of the field.
              Champion: GM Razvan Preotu (4/4)
Razvan displayed consistency and dominance throughout. Jared came closest to challenging him—holding near-equal positions in both their games—but time pressure in complex positions led to crucial endgame errors. Against Sanal, Razvan expertly converted a one-pawn advantage into a full point with classic GM technique.
              Runner-up: Jared Byers (2/4)
Jared earned solid wins against both Sanal and Shiva in closely fought games, displaying grit and composure under pressure to claim second place.
Third Place: Nikul Sanal Kumar (1.5/4)
Sanal started strong with a win over Shiva, capitalizing on a miscalculation in mutual time trouble. He followed it with a well-contested draw in a complex endgame, showing great promise.
U1900 Section: Harshel Patel Dominates After Early Setback

              Champion: Harshel Patel (4/5)
After dropping his first-round game to Sid, Harshel stormed back with four consecutive wins—including a crucial revenge victory over Sid in the final round—to clinch the title.
              Runner-up: Siddharth Nikul (3/5)
Siddharth started strong with a perfect 2/2 but was upset by Ahaan in Round 3. In the final round clash against Harshel, he fought hard but narrowly missed out, settling for second.
              Third Place: Ahaan Agrawal (2/5)
Ahaan, a new student of ieagleminds, had a slow 0/2 start but bounced back admirably with 2/3 to secure third place—a promising result in his early tournament journey.
U1200 Section: Dev Patel Finds His Mojo!

              Champion: Dev Patel (4.5/5)
Dev, a former student of ieagleminds, made a strong return by winning the U1200 section. His key win came against second-placed Kayra in a tightly contested match that proved decisive.
Runner-up (tie): Sevinc Kayra Han (3.5/5)
Kayra, one of our standout current students, had a tough start with a loss to Dev but rallied well with strong performances in the remaining rounds to tie for second.
              Runner-up (tie): Mikail Bandukda (3.5/5)
Mikail impressed with an undefeated run, including three draws—one of them against the eventual champion—to earn a well-deserved shared second place.

              Special Mention:
Wish there were stronger players participating. A shout out for Sponsors to put money in the Super Grandpri Finals on Nov 22nd to get more stronger players

                        EM-July 26th -GrandPri-7 Top-3 from each section

                        GP-7 Tournament Summary

Open Section: Jared getting closer booking his place as Open Top-6 Finalist for Nov 22nd Super Grandpri

Jared Byers won the Open but the Honours was evenly shared by Tied-Runner-ups Bar-on, Kai and 9 year old Saravanan, Sarvesh.
The Open Section was a strong Tussle between Jared and Kai. After Kai winning the opening Round, the final round for the winner slot was a game played at the highest level. Kai had his chances of winning, or at least to get a draw. However, the experience of Jared with accurate play in a slightly down position helped him to eke out a win in the end.

                        Champion: Jared Byers (3/4)
Jared was consistency throughout and from an initial setback in the opening round, kept his top play intact to be the winner. .
Runner-up Tied: Bar-on, Kai and Saravanan, Sarvesh (2.5/4)
Kai is one of the find of the Tournament. His opening game was impeccable against the seasoned Jared to win it and delay Jared from reaching his dream 2000 rating.

9 year old Sarvesh was another find. A recent CYCC 3rd placed with a Ticket to Peru was at his best in the 3rd round with Kai. With just 30 seconds in clock for Sarvesh and in a dead equal position, he turned down the draw offer from Kai and continued playing and drew with a 3-fold repetition.
U1900 Section: Garikapati, Tejas Avyan Steals the show

                        Champion: Garikapati, Tejas Avyan (4/5)
After dropping his first-round game to Akshaj, Tejas stormed back with four consecutive wins—including a crucial revenge victory over Akshaj in the fourth round—to clinch the title.
                        Runner-up: Paralikar, Akshaj (3.5/5)
Akshaj started strong with a perfect 2.5/3 but couldn’t keep up his momentum in Round 4. He had a winning position being a piece up but an oversight and a rush of blood caused him the match and the Title
                        Third Place: Mcauliffe, Jarod (1.5/5)
Jarod started strong but lost mid-way and in a complicated advantageous position against Kayra, couldn’t figure out the right combination and Kayra played his A-game to win

U1200 Section: Magesh, Nish Mahathav and Swain, Harshil make merry!

Champion: Magesh, Nish Mahathav and Swain, Harshil (4/5)
Nish stood up to his rating and after his 1st round loss with Harshil came back strong in the 4th round to tie for first place. Harshil was at his best winning 3/3 and with a Title match against Nish in the fourth, probably the pressure of the key game caught up and couldn’t hold on to the Tempo to lose the game and had to be content with a shared first.

                        Third Place: Iyer, Moksh (2/5)
Moksh, one of our standout current students, had a strong start with a win against Shreyas but couldn’t keep up the momentum in the remaining rounds and stood third

                        Special Mention

While the tournament was filled with great games and young talent, the competition could reach greater heights with stronger participation. We call upon sponsors to help elevate the level of competition by supporting the upcoming Super GrandPri Finals on November 22nd—a chance to bring in elite players and inspire the next generation.

Details and calculations can be found under the F, G columns in the July 26th Result File.
