        Bob, I'd suggest changing your date format to yyyy/mm/dd rather than sticking to a 2 digit year. 25/5/27 will be ambiguous is a very short two years or so... :)

          Hi Kerry - will try....true that the shortened version can be totally ambiguous.

                  hi Bob;

                  seems to me that 2 games in 1 day + the relatively fast time control of 70m+15s will give the juniors a decided edge;
                  I'd suggest that 1 game per day spread over 2 days/weekends at 90m+30s would level the field more...

                  2x 70m games takes longer and is more strenuous than 1x90m for older players
                  juniors play fast and seldom use up the 90m (many have over 30m left at the end of their games), thus the seniors are essentially giving the juniors 30+m handicap

                  ...1 game per day would also allow the players to do postmortems afterwards and can perhaps 'socialize' with better understanding of one another's inter-generational thinking;

                  best of luck,
                  Toy

                    You could also level the playing field by not giving the Junior Team increments. Are the Junior team ratings going to be the same as the Older team ratings?

                        1. April has said that she will try to find close proximity ratings to those of the seniors' team.
                        2. Yes, the short time controls do give the juniors somewhat of an edge; but they always play faster, regardless of time control.
                        3. We have hit the "Costs Wall" - we must limit the hall playing time......only way is shorter time controls (Even if this gives the juniors some natural edge). And there are other related match expenses that somehow must be covered if this is to go ahead.
                        4. We all are not so concerned about the match "result" in terms of wins and losses......whatever.
                        5. We are hoping that this unique event might be a fund-raiser in some way, and that we might generate some sponsor/benefactor revenue, to help pay for the event, and raise some funds for the three partners. But this is not going to be easy.

                        That's the best I can do on a first pass response to everyone.

                        Bob
