The key game in rd 6 has to be Caruana vs So to determine the lead at the half.

Rd 6 Young Mr. Woodward is on a roll and playing dominating chess. His queen's knight on c6 and the double B pawns presented a pretty picture and what's more were killer effective! His opponent didn't know what hit him.

Rd 6 Wild game between Caruana and So - just wild. This fan is loving it - no holds barrec play. Cut and thrust - love it.

The game of the round for the womens was definitely Krush vs Yip. Irina Krush played the King's Indian with a prepared novelty on move 15. Carissa Yip's play reminded me of what Hikaru was doing with the King's Indian ten and more years ago. She led with the knights to open lines in the center; and followed with the bishops before crashing through on the pinned bishop on the E-file. Irina Krush kept throwing piece blocks until finally she couldn't throw any more blocks in the final position. Hugely entertaining!

Rd 6 womens Sargsyan's lead has dried up and she's coming off the rails. It was Paikidze's turn to beat here but in a horrible way. Sargsyan forced massive exchanges and headed for bishops of op colours but it was death by suffocation.

Rd 6 womens Anna Zatonskih is playing well and her play is knight and day difference from last year.

Rd 6 womens Yu's opponent was dreaming kingside attack as Yu took the rest of the board.

The Caruana vs So game ended in a draw. Caruana missed winning chances. Key game for the leaderboard.

At the half Alice Lee finds herself tied for the lead with Anna Zatonskih! but its a slim one. Four players a half point back.

Rd 7 Niemann vs Caruana is the key game of the round.

Caruana does a full court press on the kingside. Impressive!

                            Niemann resigns before checkmate.

Wesley So gets to play a lovely pawn up knight vs bishop endgame against Woodward and leads to an instructive win..
