In addition to all the other great entertainment there were two extra long endgames that kept going, the best of which was Yu - Paikidze which went 111 moves. This fan was almost overwhelmed with the great entertainment.Comment

Rd 9 Irina Krush played an interesting pawn sac on the black side of a Sicilian against Pourkashian. White is under intense pressure but there is no obvious breakthrough for Black. I wonder if this is all home prep?

Carissa Yip has played a very creative opening against Atwell. Its npt ypur usual type of position and I'm really enjoying it.

It looks like Alice Lee has fallen into a trap against Zatonskih. How bad is it? We'll see.

Shankland vs Caruana is a fighting Sicilian - no surprise - a Taimanov no less.
