Maurizzi continues to weave his magic, this time against Lu. In the final position the threat is stronger than the execution.

Ivic has one passed pawn on the seventh and one in the pocket and thats too much. Black (Roebers) resigned.

Chucky's move accuracy has hit 99%. He has the two bishops and a rook on the seventh and is positionally large.. Hes not just hot, he's on fire!

Keymer's playing of the position is ugly but practical. At any rate it seems to be headed for a draw.

In the Niemann - Van Foreest game both kings are loose. Does Hans have confidence in the endgame? - or will there be an interruption before then?

Another fascinating game is Aravindh - Erigaisi. Black is up the exchange but his king is caught in the center. White has better piece placement, pressure and active knights.

Pragga continues with his theme of posing bizarre tactical solutions to positional problems but his opponent Erdogmus has already developed a fine nose for smelling out wrong continuations. Be interested to see how this plays out.

Bluebaum continues to impress. His pieces are so well placed and he dominates the center.

Gukesh sure plays interesting chess. After a long forcing tactical sequence which Fedoseev initiated. Gukesh as a rook and a pawn for bishop and knight, but the knight is stuck on h1. Gukesh often plays with positional imbalances as compensation for material sacrificed and this is one of those positions.

Rd 8 Masters Abdusattarov around move 20 started making strange moves, four moves in a row, all on the white squares. Moves like Qd3 with no apparent purpose, and Kd1. Wonder what caught his eye, what was he planning? The computer is not impressed either, he's fortunate to be only -2. Lets see how it will play out.

Rd8 in the Masters I will have my eye on Abdusattarov - Giri and in the Challengers on Oro -Woodward, and , of course, the Chucky game.

The next two rounds are critical for Faustino Oro as he poised to get his final GM norm and become the youngest Grandmaster in the world.

Erdogmus has proven he's the real deal. At the half in Tata Steel Masters he's plus one and tied for third and has gained 23 Fide points which puts him at 43rd in the world. 2700 soon!
