I'd suggest you start a union and go on strike, but the collateral damage of strikes tends to be the children of the members. They often have to do without.

Bullies like Ed should know that.

Gary's ignorance of unions knows no bounds of course. Ignorance is not necessarily limited to bullies like Gary, of course, but they do tend to cling to their ignorance more successfully than rational people. In that respect Gary is, observably, a champion in defending his ignorance from reality.

You don't deny the children are often the collateral damage in a strike.

Everyone knows the comments you are writing amount to nothing more than cracking walnuts in your butt.

Now things have settled down possibly we can discuss climate change again. I was listening to an interview on the CTV news channel a few minutes ago regarding the federal funds for climate control drying up next year. The person being interviewed, whose name I didn't catch, was worrying that the climate change scientists would leave Canada. Big pity, that.

I heard a conversation about solar energy for commercial. The idea is to install the equipment, sell the electricity into the grid, and then buy the electricy to serve the building. What they produce should more than pay for what they buy plus maintainance.

I hear this weekend is expected to be very warm. Let's take another opinion poll!:)
They didn't want to bother Jones so they didn't call him to testify. They didn't talk to anyone critical of AGW. They didn't even spend one day on the whole process. Its good to see that the British parliamentary inquiry is about as reliable and diligent as the average climate "scientist". :p

Vlad, where are you getting your information?:(

A quick google search and I found the British Parliamentary report. It is a 63 page report, listing 9 witnesses appearing before the committee on March 1st. The committee wrapped up on March 24th, and their report was released on March 31st. hmmmm...more than 1 day!

Dr. Jones was one of the 9 witnesses interviewed, and here it is on youtube.

The report also lists 57 written submissions to the committee. So, where are you getting your info?

This is the kind of stories appearing in the media. Not that it matters much as the Canadian federal government is cutting funding for climate change. How much they are cutting I don't know but from the interview I saw on TV today it must be substantial. Something about scientists planning to leave for nations which are more interested in providing funding. Harper will be getting my vote for sure. :)

I defer to Gary in this skill, as he has so much more experience at doing that than I do.

Watch out Gary, the Big Bad Union is coming to get you!

Just another random lie from Vlad. Check sources? Not Vlad, he already knows the "Truth" and reality cannot compete!

So I see that, as well as being devoid of the ability to reason logically, you are also a paranoid. I think you should get back on your medication for your own good.

I misspoke. They handled him with kid gloves. They didn't do their job.

"An MP on the committee told The Times that, before this month’s public hearing, the members had agreed not to question Professor Jones too closely because of his fragile condition."

[On Jones] "He was certainly not co-operative with those seeking to get data, but that was true of all the climate scientists.”

                          A nice summary:

                          Stephen Allinson wrote:
"Phil Jones, of the University of East Anglia, was acting “in line with common practice in the climate science community” Yes indeed, hiding the decline, alarmism, rigged data, dodgy computer models and deception. the very essence of climate science.

Back to some science instead of gossip.

I am doing some really neat research on sea ice and its connection to climate. In a nutshell with more sea ice melt there is a reduction of the temperature change in the North to South direction (normally Arctic is much colder, mid latitudes are much warmer). With the Arctic warmer (from more sea ice melt) the latitudinal temperature gradient is reduced. This reduces the wind speeds (and thus the westerlies and the Polar Front jet stream so it migrates to the north) and increases the wind speeds of the Subtropical jet stream, which migrates to the south.

Net result, Canada gets more stable (less windy) and warmer conditions and higher air pressures resulting in less intense storms and precipitation, while the US gets more unstable (windier) and colder conditions with lower air pressures resulting in more precipitation and more intense storms (likewise for Europe and Eastern Asia).

Exactly what we have been seeing in 2010. The research continues....

Well I don't know about all that stuff. Personally I would think our growing season would become longer and we could feed more of the world. Opportunities abound.

I got to thinking about our recent discussion about Solar energy. Possibly you recall that discussion as it's the one which became so nasty and I exhibited remarkable patience.

A few days ago the Ontario government announced the FIT prgoram. (Feed in Tarrifs). Megabucks kind of project. You might have guessed it's not a project which is near and dear to me. However, I got with the program, as they say. I bought shares in a company which makes solar panels and will benefit from the grants. Maybe also wind stuff. It's an International company with head offices in Cambridge, On.

The company was also added to the new TSX Clean Technology Index.
