Have you even been up one of those towers? Great view!!
You don't just slap those towers up. There has to be deep concrete footings for each leg. If you're going to build that kind of infrastructure it's nice to have some assurance of years of power source. I think they are kind of hoping that volcano will stop.Gary Ruben

By the way, not everyone is on the global warming side. There are those with a different view.

Personally, I'm wondering how much more oil will get into the Ocean before they get the gusher stopped. What the short to long term effect will be. We also have to remember that's only "this time".
We can now see the plan the Americans has to deal with such a problem. The plan seems to be to let those who caused the problem deal with it, while they stand by and hold hearings. They allowed the drilling. Now something has gone wrong the politicians will tell the voters the problem and whose to blame.
I suspect they will make the regulations stiffer but in the end they won't stop the drilling because they need the oil. To keep the big companies, which can easily move around the world, the regulations can't be so tough the expense makes them less economic that other jurisdications. They go where the money is.
Now if you don't believe this look at Alberta and what happened when they raised the royalties a few years ago. The boom is now a bust but Sask. and B.C. are getting an increase in drilling.Gary Ruben

I was reading the paper today and looking for a writeup on the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. It's a paper I only get Sunday because my regular paper doesn't publish on Sunday.
There was a small piece on page 36. Something about Obama claiming it was caused by a breakdown of responsibility. Probably he missed the part where he holds the office which has the ultimate responsibility.
It's a case of them telling people the problem and whose responsible but not being able to do much to fix it, or so it seems.
I've noticed this has started to come off the front pages of the newspapers. Acceptance seems to have set in. Now the long wait until either a long shot fix or the 3 month relief well drill and plug.
Some of the oil is being directed to a tanker ship but it seems much is still pouring into the ocean. I guess what goes to the ship will be sold and help pay the costs.
It seems to be beyond pollution.Gary Ruben
