The first round games of the Pro Section are attached. Sambuev played an instructive miniature against Demmery. Generally speaking, the visiting members of the Olympic squad also had a strong first round.

Thanks for the games. As you say, instructive, in a nightmare-ish kind of way.

The attached file is an update to the previous. We are short a few games, but I will try to deal with them tomorrow. No additional miniatures this round, as far as I have noticed.

Thanks for posting the games! btw games 8-14 are dups of games 1-7.

Song-Noritsyn was interesting. Not sure if it was resignation but it seems White can still keep fighting with Qh5 at the end...

Thank you. Any opening which loses so quickly should have disclaimer.

                  Re: 2010 Guelph Fall ProAm

The file has been updated again, this time featuring the inclusion of games from round 3. I have a handful of game scores that are indecipherable, so I don't think we will manage to submit a complete set of games from the Pro Section. Apologies in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

Actually I spoke to Steve after the game. This line has served him well against Master opposition for many years. Sometimes it takes a G to set you straight.

A Russian GM is like no other GM. You have to come with your best theory and make no mistakes in the opening.

Anyhow, here's an interesting game played in CC. Morgado still has a FIDE rating over 2200 and is probably in his 60's. It has a bit of a game Reggio Emila 1979 event and Bled 1993. Maybe it will give some of the Chess Talk theory hounds some enterainment this afternoon. In the Demmery game, I thought 9. Nf5 might have been a bit optomistic. Also, I like 7. a3 better.

Another update. The games available after round 5 will likely be dealt with tomorrow. Chess players need to invest in one of dem tings what tells time, by the way. A certain group of repeat offenders, which will remain unnamed, continue to hound me for the time. Luckily, I have it written down on a piece of paper: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSSGiA4f5cs.

He was asking about the miniature between GM Bator and Steve Demmery

the opening according to fritz was E01 Catalan: Early deviations.
University and Chess, a difficult mix.
