    Re: Hamilton Winter Open 2011

I can never rationalize why, with 3 players tied, #1 is playing #2 while
#3 is playing #4. #3 has already had an easier run of opponents and
it continues giving him a good shot at going 4/4 .
I would think fairer pairings would be 1:4 and 2:3 or even 1:3 2:4.
They are playing for money (I know not much) but contenders need to play
    contenders.

The pairing page only shows rd. 5. You would have to take them from the crosstable.

They both played last weekend in Trois-Rivieres

Kovalyov and Roussel-Roozmon are both active in Canada, unless Canada = Ontario for you ?

    Traffic Accident: 403

Due to the traffic accident on the 403 all my helpers are late getting into Hamilton, therefore the first round start time will likely be slightly delayed

Good luck in this tournament. But if you win clear first and win against Wesley So in the process, your new rating will be 30 points higher while GM So's will be 30 points lower! This will call for an emergency meeting of the Governors to decide what is wrong with the rating system. :D

    Hi Hal,

Thank you for clarification Hal! I hope to see you this weekend, but too bad you can't play. :) Good point Bator! Your input means a lot to us(organizers), since you are the only active playing GM in Canada.

I still find suggestion of 2850 rating very funny . :D

    Mikhail
