I'm shocked and totally confused! Come on guys! I've been a life member of the CFC for several years and recently received such an e-mail:

I am contacting you on behalf of the Chess Federation of Canada. We are contacting former members of the CFC, such as yourself, to invite you back and ask you to become a member once again. I returned to the CFC myself in 2007 after taking a decade long break from competitive chess. In 2010, I was the most active player in Canada with over 168 rated tournament games. My only regret was that I stopped playing for such a long time that it took me a while to get back into the rhythm of playing again.
The CFC puts out a monthly email newsletter for its members to keep you informed of chess events in Canada. As well, we have a new website which among other things now includes a list of local Canadian chess instructors. We have also started a system of class titles from class E through to National Master.
Information about rates for CFC membership, etc. is available on the CFC website, at the following link:
http://chess.ca/membership-rates
Should you wish to join the CFC again, please contact CFC Executive Director Gerry Litchfield at the following email address:
info@chess.ca
