Canada is entitled to have an OFFICIAL representative in each group at the event (12 in total). I believe this entitlement includes entry fee, accommodations, and meals.

It has been determined eligibility for the 2013 NAYCC will come from the 2012 CYCC. We are trying to contact the medalists from that event to determine who is interested in these spots. Anyone reading this and from the qualifying group from last year should contact the CFC office and copy Patrick McDonald. We are presently working on determining which players in each qualifying group have priority.

I would assume the winner of the CYCC 2013 will have the choice of which subsequent 2013 event to go to. I see there is a Pan-Am Youth event later in July in Brazil - but I'm not sure if this is the "official" event or not.

Thanks to Hal Bond and the CFC for giving us this mandate. CMA Toronto Director Francis Rodrigues will be responsible for this event. Details to follow.

The USCF has put the event on their website (over 50% of those registered at this point are from the U.S.):

A tournament you will not want to miss :)

    Hi Fred,

For an entry fee of $225-$250 it suppose to be a guarantee, don't you thin so?

Of course, 2013 CYCC in July will be a qualifier for 2013 NAYCC in August.

Please extend the registration deadline till the end of July... ;)

    Thanks!

I believe you might have a point Rene! Sub-Continental is NAYCC because the champions are qualifying for Continental (PANAM):

    Sub-Continental Individual – include Arab, ASEAN, Zonals & Sub-zonals
    Sub-Continental Individual (U18)

    IM/WIM: 1st equal – title;
    FM/WFM: Silver & Bronze – title

    Sub-Continental Individual (U16)

    IM/WIM: Gold – norm
    FM/WFM: 1st equal – title
    WCM/CM: Silver & Bronze – title

    Sub-Continental Individual (U14 - U12)

    FM/WFM: Gold – title
    CM/WCM: Silver & Bronze – title

    Sub-Continental Individual (U10 - U8)

    CM/WCM: 1st equal, Silver & Bronze - title

Let me see if I understand...a youngster qualifies for the 2013 NAYCC based on their result at the CYCC - July 2012...a year ago...and now may get to play in a section they never participated in as they are now older...call me stupid...duh :)

Thnx, Francis. I can not commit to come all days. I'll try for one day, probably Saturday. :)

3 years ago, one kid from Quebec won the U12 section. He won a CM title, which he obviously declined, as it's worthless... However, with these rules he would have won a FM title?! He's not even near that strength, 3 years later (altough he is still a very promising player)...

I think we'll really need some clarification on this.

Maybe from July 1st 2013 FIDE considers NAYCC a Continental & Regional tournament (Continental & maximum 3 regional events per continent)
