Actually, it's 481 000 views for 218 videos (so about 2000 views per video in average).

    I particularly like this one : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zx29h...1CryA&index=19

Looks like he's doing it as part of his coaching at this British private school. http://www.yateleymanor.com/My-Yateley-Manor/Chess.aspx

But with over 2,000 visitor per game somebody must be spreading the link. Most chess videos I've seen get less than 100 views. He's probably made over $1,000 from Youtube and could be getting teaching requests from students around the world.

Sounds right. Does Youtube pay for hits? Hadn't heard about that.

Become a "partner" and you get a small share of ad revenue.

I don't see any ads that come up when you click on those videos.

And then there are these videos which get many more views, in the hundreds of thousands. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bdasolxg8QA More than 10M views or about 71k per video and 26k subscribers.

If I remember right this fellow is not that good and not a master. It's actually not that hard to take well known games like this, read various annotators and then make your own video and appear as if you did the analysis. I think we all could do it.

It says he is from Canada, anyone know who this is and if he plays in tournaments? His early games seemed to all be from online blitz play. Some with terrible blunders by him or his opponent.

On his channel he says "I started chess in July of 2007..." which to me means he hasn't been playing that long. I watched some of the early videos and hoped that beginning chess players were not taking this seriously. There were obvious mistakes being made like fianchettoing bishops when they would be blocked by their own pawns in a closed pawn centre.

Nothing posted on his site's blog in over a year. What is his full name?

You can read 10 screenfuls of comments about his videos from chess.com - most from 3 years ago:

I guess if he's getting some revenue from YT then he doesn't care anymore. He can just sit back & wait for the revenue to come in. I wonder how much money 10M views gets you? This is an example of the economic principle that the first to market can soak up the early economic surplus. Even if they have a substandard product.

Jrobichess is definitely for beginners (U1300 maybe), as he is clearly himself not better than than.

I have some friends that have considerable revenues from Youtube (without spamming people with ads). I think it's usually about 0.005$ per view (although it can depend on many other factors).
