Hebert wins his last round game, and also wins the closed, if I read the score correctly. Congratulations.

Congratulations to International Master Jean Hebert Re: Canadian Closed - Hebert wins
Congratulations to International Master Jean Hebert -- the new 2009 Canadian Closed Champion!
As IA Hal Bond is quoted on the Monroi website...."IM Jean Hebert was the top rated player in Canada when I joined the Chess Federation of Canada in 1980. 29 years later Jean is still a dangerous opponent. In 2007 some of you may remember his 16 game blitz playoff with Noritsyn."
Well done Jean --- you came back 2 years later and topped them all!
Best Regards,
Mark S. Dutton, I.A.

Yes. Very nicely done!Originally posted by Christopher Mallon View PostYes, congratulations to Jean!
We're just having a playoff match right now between Tayar and Jiang for the IM title.
Is this the Canadian Closed which gives a spot in the WC playdown and a spot on the Olympiad team?Gary Ruben

Re: Canadian Closed - Hebert wins
We tried, but the monroi hub went and died on us again... but they are being recorded by an Arbiter so we'll have the PGNs.
First game drew, so they're in the sudden death 2nd game now... if it's also a draw, we'll go to Blitz games. (5+3)Christopher Mallon

Re : Canadian Closed - Hebert wins
Are they playing for a IM norm or a IM title? Louie Jiang doesn't have his national master title, so having his IM title would be impressing...We're just having a playoff match right now between Tayar and Jiang for the IM title.
