A tactical nicety is the Firouja game.

Nepos queenside attack was inspiring. It seemed to be simplifying but he crashed thru in seeming effortless fashion.

I also had my eye on Cordoba - Dubov, the Yu Yangyi game, Duda Henriquez and the Grischuk finish.

Many nice endgames and the Jeffrey Xiong game was a powerplay performance.

El Ghindy played a great game against Aronian and missed some winning opportunities at move 40.

https://www.chessbomb.com/arena/2019...scu_Constantin Black had a winning game and a large edge before allowing kingside tragedy.

In game 2 rd 1 Peter Svidler had a cute miniature in a favorite line of mine in the Sicilian. The e6 advanced pawn lever, a Bf4 blocking sacrifice and plenty of knight action.

Jeffery Xiong also finished his second game with a miniature. His mix of strategy and tactics has been very successful.

El Ghindy again gave a great account of himself! - and he did well in the opening before he went wrong. Still two hard fought games against Aronian!

Naiditsch, who used to lead the German players, went down convincingly against Huschenbeth. Generational changeover?

The Shak had a gem of a finish with the two knights and queen (much more than routine)! Such knight play!

Adhiban continued his superior play against Iturrizaga, allowing no tricks, and agreed to a draw in a much better position

Christiansen - Wojtazcek must be the greatest upset match with Christiansen dominating in both games.

Lupulescu who lost a winning game in round 1 fought back in the second game and evened the score.
