                  Gibraltar International Chess Festival 2020

                  January 30, 2020

                  Round Ten

At this point in time MVL-Maghsoodloo is still going on.

                  These final scores in:

                  1. Esipenko, Yuffa, Wang Hao, Paravyan, Navara, Yilmaz 7.5

We are waiting for MVL-Maghsoodloo but the chances are nil that Magh will join the above.

                  The rules state this:

Masters: The first prize may not be shared. All other prizes shall be shared where players have the same score (except the Women’s First Prize).
In the event of a tie for first place, there shall be a speed play-off.

If there are two or four players tied for first place, there will be a speed knock-out play-off for the first prize of £30,000. If three players tie for first place, the player with the highest performance rating will be seeded directly into the Final of the Play-Off; the other two players will contest the Semi-Final.

If more than four players tie for first place, the four players with the highest performance ratings shall qualify for the play-off to decide the first prize.

Congrats to Victor Plotkin for making a IM norm. Also to Raja Panjwani for a very nice tournament, just short of a GM norm. Very entertaining chess.

                          - 21-year-old David Paravyan beats Andrey Esipenko in Armageddon and will now play Wang Hao for £30,000!

                          - David Paravyan is now one draw with the white pieces away from winning #GibChess 2020 after beating Wang Hao in the first game of the final!

                          - Congratulations to 21-year-old Russian David Paravyan on beating Wang Hao in the playoff final to win the #GibChess Masters & the £30,000 top prize. David is 3 days younger than last year's Russian winner, Vladislav Artemiev!

I think Raja has all his norms already but he is getting closer to 2500. Congratulations on a great result.
