A fantastic result for IM Hebert so far. I wish him all the best for the rest of the tournament.

Jean is playing very well, he clobbered most of his opponents. Against the favorite John Nunn he got badly punished after playing a very bad version of the french 3 Nc6 not bad but not that good and 4 Nh6, which I don't think is very good. Nunn won with a nice attack. Nunn has been dominant in that event so far, but he is only 1/2 point ahead of 4 or 5 others including Nona Gaprindashvili who sued Netflix. She is showing them !!

Wrong link - that's the link to the Maplewood games. I think the round 7 game has some DGT problems - I don't think Hébert would give a piece for nothing. I will check other sources.

Jean drew today in his french. A dull game which became exciting a bit in the rook endgame. Nunn is playing tremendously, he is clobbering his opponents left and right. Good opening preparation and sharp tactical eye at 67 is simply outstanding. But Jean is only a point behind, anything is possible in this tournament. But if John Nunn continues to play this way, it will be difficult.

Worth mentioning - there are quite a few other Canadians participating, including IM Cummings, FM Plotkin, and others.

Jean drew today, he had somewhat of a bad game during the middlegame but put up a stern defense, John Nunn had his queen trapped and lost badly, miscalculation to Danish GM Jens Kristanssen. I had never heard of him before this tournament. So it Kristanssen with 7, Nunn and Garcia Fernandez 61/2 , and at 6 Hebert, Gaprindashvili, Jansa (also a strong grandmaster)
and another fellow. Jean is still in the thick of it

Nona G is playing in the Open section. I saw female divisions announced on the official site, but no crosstables. Did they cancel the female sections?

Um ... interesting to note that 4 out of the current top 10 players have authored their own chess books.

Jean Hébert, Vlastimil Jansa, Rainer Knaak and John Nunn.

And John Nunn is one of the best author in my opinion.
