Jean is playing very well, he clobbered most of his opponents. Against the favorite John Nunn he got badly punished after playing a very bad version of the french 3 Nc6 not bad but not that good and 4 Nh6, which I don't think is very good. Nunn won with a nice attack. Nunn has been dominant in that event so far, but he is only 1/2 point ahead of 4 or 5 others including Nona Gaprindashvili who sued Netflix. She is showing them !!

Jean drew today in his french. A dull game which became exciting a bit in the rook endgame. Nunn is playing tremendously, he is clobbering his opponents left and right. Good opening preparation and sharp tactical eye at 67 is simply outstanding. But Jean is only a point behind, anything is possible in this tournament. But if John Nunn continues to play this way, it will be difficult.

Jean drew today, he had somewhat of a bad game during the middlegame but put up a stern defense, John Nunn had his queen trapped and lost badly, miscalculation to Danish GM Jens Kristanssen. I had never heard of him before this tournament. So it Kristanssen with 7, Nunn and Garcia Fernandez 61/2 , and at 6 Hebert, Gaprindashvili, Jansa (also a strong grandmaster)
and another fellow. Jean is still in the thick of it
