How in the world did Anish Giri lose that?? Answer: B4 and C4 pawn levers started the collapse and then some nice active king moves in the knight vs bishop endgame with a dangerous outside passed pawn. Lovely play by Abdusattarov!

In the Challengers Erwin's luck did not hold. He did get his endgame but it wasnt a good one. If that happens its nice if your opponent puts you away brilliantly and with 50...Re3+!! Santos Lataso did so!Comment

In the Challengers when the leader goes down in flames others usually take over. The new leader is Salem with Korobov, L'Ami, and Maurizzi a half point behind. I have a feeling we will have an exciting finish in this section as well.Comment
