Read the link again; this temperature variation is extremely significant. The volcano last year was so small the ejecta did not even reach the stratosphere so there is no effect on climate.

You remind me of Swartz on Hogan's heroes; although he was more honest than you since he admitted that he knew nothing...

Looks who's talking about honesty. What a joke you are. When was the last time you were in Nanuvat or some of the other northern places you're so worried about?

All you have to know is this, sonny. Some days it's warm. Some days it's cold. Some days it rains or snows.

I don't consider polticians who want to spend a lot of my money on climate change and global warming to be very smart. I won't vote for them. The federal election and upcoming provincial election here in Ontario should be very kind to the Conservatives. I don't normally vote conservative but will be doing so.

There might be some problems in the South too. The maple syrup production will cease in the South if the climate change trend is the same.

Several years ago Toronto observed several times +15-+20C temperature in January. This year it was -20C. A good swing :D

You don't even appear to be trying to keep current on volcanoes and the problems they cause. Here's an article from todays national newspaper, The Globe and Mail. Volcanoes are more significant than you appear to realize.

            A bit chilly.

The maple trees in this area have become quite large. They are being cut down. People don't want a 75 foot tree in their yard, it seems.

Personally, I'm allergic to Maple trees and syrup so don't much care about that aspect.

              It was Schultz not Swartz.

Carbon dioxide driven climate change is a dog that won't hunt anymore. Paying twenty times the going rate for electricity is a losing proposition for the provincial Liberals. There will be no more of those contracts signed once their term of office has ended.

I'm confused. If someone pointed out that region X was Y degrees cooler over the last month wouldn't you rebut that the long-term trends are important? So how is any warming in a region over the course of a month relevant when talking climate change?

I am sure that with the right psychotherapies you can work on that paranoia of yours. Environmentally friendly wind powered electroshock perhaps?

I thought it might have been the final stages of Climate Change Psychosis.

Coal is a big resource for Canada. Metalurgical coal (Met Coal) is mostly used for making steel and exported. Thermal Coal is mostly used for making electricity. Much is used here in Canada and also exported.

Those industries tend to have strong unions and be good paying. So there isn't too much action to stop the industries involved in polluting.

Somehow the fact government has an interest in the fuel industries is lost. They charge royalties on the oil and gas coming out of the ground. Then corporate taxes. Then taxes on whatever is made on items made from the oil and gas in Canada plus the HST. I suppose that's the reason no political party is suggesting we close down those industries.

Probably the people being upset with the subsidies for solar energy is causing some concern for the movement. So we do know who is funded.

I think the Green Party has suggested as much though they are hardly a threat to elect a single MP. I believe the Bloc has also made noises to that effect.

Big oil would have to have pretty deep pockets to be concerned with paying us to keep those pesky climate change people in check here. Its not like the climate change/chicken little faction is particularly effective in promoting their flawed point of view or anything.

I think our natural resources are pretty much what's keeping our dollar high. Close down those industries and the government would have a hard time getting enough money to run the country, as far as I can see. When Alberta raised the royalty rate and the companies headed for greener pastures it didn't take long for activity and income to slow down. Alberta has reversed that to some extent and the Premier is now stepping down.

I don't take the Bloc seriously on closing down resources for green policy. Somehow I can't imagine them telling their voters there is no money for the social programs because of such a policy.

I'm starting to think buying stock in natural gas exploration and production companies is a mugs game.
