    Great work Egidijus.

Yes, the left-turner is indeed a very rare beast. Technically, my statement still holds.

Dean, 1983 was not a hurricane turning left, it was a weaker tropical storm turning left (must have been due to meteorology; Coriolis always turns things right in the Northern Hemisphere).

Josephine, 1984 was much further North when it did a leftward 360, it did not turn left and impact the east coast.

Danelle and Denis did not actually urn left, they actually turned right and did a 270 and then headed to the east coast.

Thus, my statement still holds. Keep looking at tracks further back and you may yet prove me wrong. Great work!

I post this one knowing the very next post will be number 1,000 in this topic thread. Who will the poster be?

I think it's actually cooling. I had my little Bichon trimmed yesterday. The breed doesn't lose hair and has to be groomed. They take it down to about half an inch and the hair grows back out in a couple of months.

It's so cool I'm putting her doggie coat on her before she goes out so she won't shiver. (not joking.) Usually it's later in the year before I have to do that.

They trimmed the beard and mustache a little shorter than I like.

Yes, mostly from the US satellite. Really old ones - no idea.
Imho, the current paths end where there are no more definitve center, and they becomes just bad weather.

Don't put far extending comments after reading every article :p

    http://weather.unisys.com/hurricane/atlantic
    gives more paths of storms&co.

I looked through several decades. Some left-turners:

This one tried two times go to US

    This one was entering highway

    A brother

    Thus Sandy is not alone.

We'll see how New York will react after all mess will be collected.

Had I made that Sept 30th prediction I wouldn't be speaking to others intelligence. Had you made it Sept 31st we would still be waiting. :)

It's not just one storm. Because according to Paul New York used to be hurricane proof and now it is not. It is all those future storms Paul is dreaming of. You know the ones he is already mentally unleashing. 'People of Sheldonopolis follow me'. After each one of which he gets to say I told you so. If Paul designed a Sim City believe you me you would not want to live there.

Don't bother him with facts of numerous past hurricanes that hit the same area centuries ago.

Here is a link that totally trashes the view that there has been no warming for 16 years...
    http://thinkprogress.org/climate/201...keeps-warming/

Egidijus, thanks for the images. The paths are quite similar initially but as you move into the mid latitudes the storms ALWAYS move right due to two effects, namely the coriollis force deflecting objects to the right and the prevailing winds from west to east. Down closer to the equator there is some jogging that can occur if the prevailing winds there (from east to west) are strong enough to overcome the coriollis. It is the hard left in the midlatitudes seen by Sandy that has never happened before. Without climate change destroying the sea ice and contorting the jet streams with enormous amplitude Sandy would have veered right in the mid latitudes like every other hurricane in recorded history.
