Are antarctic temperatures indeed lower on average, or is it simply that averages remain enough below 0 that it continues to grow despite stasis or a warming trend?

The data set represented by the graph posted by Egidijus indicates that the Antarctic is cooling. Whether it is or isn't is dependent on the accuracy of the measurements and adjustments made to those measurements.

Growth of ice caps doesn't mean cooling. It means sustained cold. Melting of ice caps doesn't mean warming. It means average the temperature is relatively higher than is required to sustain the cap. (However, arctic ocean dynamics will totally screw up this simplistic analysis.)

As I remember a lot of data were available to download. Global anti-warming activists had many decades to start own research :p

You don't see any plateau because the data is not truly comparable over different time ranges because it covers a different set of measurement sites. There is also no indication whether this is unadjusted data or adjusted data which is quite different and may yield different results. This is also sloppy science since the labels do not match what is actually graphed. The data has increased sampling in the Arctic which has been warming according to Beckwith but has not increased sampling in the Antarctic which has been cooling. If you cherry pick and only add new sites where there has been warming then of course the overall trend will be warming. Garbage in. Garbage out.
