Bob: Read and respond to the graph Vlad posted. The past fifteen years apparently have seen average temps above normal and below normal, but in approximately equal amounts. We're talking about average global annual temperature, not local incidental extremes.

    Vlad, are you kidding me?

Obama chose not to run on global warming because he knows that it is a losing issue. I liked one of the comments on the article that Gary linked to.

Of course mankind's activities were responsible for Sandy. The big storm surge was partly because of a full moon - an anthropogenic full moon.

I suppose the poster meant high tide. Calling Paul a scientist is giving him way too much credit. He's a science student. Alarmism is in his own self interest. As the pause in warming stretches into two decades by 2016 I am sure that the "real" climate scientists will find some other way to hide the decline. Most of the world has moved on. The deep pockets that they were hoping to tap are not so deep anymore. Carbon dioxide will continue to be pumped into the atmosphere but the temperatures will continue to remain stable because carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has little to do with what temperatures ultimately are.

Beckwith, as a scientist you should know better than to point to a single event as proof of a trend. In this case, hurricanes have behaved like Sandy for centuries and this one is no different. (See Hazel 1954 for but one example.) You may take comfort in the fact that your colleagues are doing the same thing.

"Welcome to the world of Frankenscience, where claims are made that have no substance and causal links are stated that are not supported by real scientists — including scientists who believe that man-made global warming is a problem."

Really then how do you explain these historic hurricanes that made landfall in the same area. Notice the dates on some of them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...ork_hurricanes

It gets warm, it gets cold and still they want to call Carbon Dioxide a pollutant. LOL.

There was money in the U.S. diplomatic budget for $108,000 for a Chevy Volt charging station in Vienna but not enough for security for the U.S. Ambassador to Libya. Go Green Energy!

I don't need sea ice maps. I have a crystal ball. It's called a Snow Globe. The rather large squirrel inside tells me the sea ice is safe.
    Is the squirrel named Paul?

Do you think you could be wrong like on your prediction of us being mated in 49 days by Sept 30th?

Probably a small miscalculation resulted in a big scare for those who get scared by such a thing.

Now it's a show me story.
