Re: 2013 North American Youth Championship

sounds reasonable, if you promised something then yes...

      might be an interesting topic:
Official player in WYCC means a lot, free accommodation, less entry fee etc, most winners probably choose it if possible.
but so little is the value of being an official player in Pan American or NAYCC, experience from last year's Pan America, it was worth $300(paying $300 less than accompanying person in same hotel) if only the player himself/herself goes, I noticed many American families with two or more accompanying persons chose booking their own hotel and pay a penalty of being not staying in designated hotels.

Wondering what is the benefits of being official players in NAYCC, free accomocation in shared double occupancy with breakfast, and two meals ,Those who wish single occupancy may pay the difference, how much does it worth? The single room is $99 and double room is $106, so if one parent and one official player comes, the accommodation worth $106 / 2 = $53 per night, totally being official means $53x4=$212, am I correct?

my understanding is that the student's room can only allow one person in single room or two people in double room(I haven't got reply back from the chestnut to confirm this, any one can confirm this?), if the official's both parents or even siblings will come, then they have to stay in two rooms, the total cost will be higher than staying in a 3 star hotel. Am I correct?

I'm sure Larry will help elucidate all your queries! :-)

Just to keep you posted -

Entries for the NAYCC have already started pouring in this
weekend, predictably as you might have guessed, from the US!

        Have fun!

The media certainly, particularly in the first minutes of
the round as at the Olympiads - and we can appoint you
the official photographer Egis - your work is excellent!

Based on the new FIDE Table for Direct Titles effective from 1 July 2013 it looks like IM and FM titles are available too for U14, U16 and U18

That would be quite ridiculous... I think it's the Pan-American Championship that actually offer norm or title chances.

Maybe from July 1st 2013 FIDE considers NAYCC a Continental & Regional tournament (Continental & maximum 3 regional events per continent)

Re : 2013 North American Youth Championship

3 years ago, one kid from Quebec won the U12 section. He won a CM title, which he obviously declined, as it's worthless... However, with these rules he would have won a FM title?! He's not even near that strength, 3 years later (altough he is still a very promising player)...

I think we'll really need some clarification on this.

Thnx, Francis. I can not commit to come all days. I'll try for one day, probably Saturday. :)

Let me see if I understand...a youngster qualifies for the 2013 NAYCC based on their result at the CYCC - July 2012...a year ago...and now may get to play in a section they never participated in as they are now older...call me stupid...duh :)

                        Yes, Larry, you're right! :)
Of course, 2013 CYCC in July will be a qualifier for 2013 NAYCC in August.

Please extend the registration deadline till the end of July... ;)

                        Thanks!

                          Hi Michael,

Is CFC going to cover for the 3rd place 2012 CYCC qualifiers?

I believe you might have a point Rene! Sub-Continental is NAYCC because the champions are qualifying for Continental (PANAM):

                              Sub-Continental Individual – include Arab, ASEAN, Zonals & Sub-zonals
                              Sub-Continental Individual (U18)

                              IM/WIM: 1st equal – title;
                              FM/WFM: Silver & Bronze – title

                              Sub-Continental Individual (U16)

                              IM/WIM: Gold – norm
                              FM/WFM: 1st equal – title
                              WCM/CM: Silver & Bronze – title

                              Sub-Continental Individual (U14 - U12)

                              FM/WFM: Gold – title
                              CM/WCM: Silver & Bronze – title

                              Sub-Continental Individual (U10 - U8)

                              CM/WCM: 1st equal, Silver & Bronze - title

I have raised this issue with Patrick and Hal (waiting for an answer). In my mind, the CFC cannot always guarantee that there will be three events prior to the next CYCC. This may be the case for the 2012 CYCC.

I would assume the winner of the CYCC 2013 will have the choice of which subsequent 2013 event to go to. I see there is a Pan-Am Youth event later in July in Brazil - but I'm not sure if this is the "official" event or not.
