General Guidelines
---- Nous avons besoin d'un traduction français!
Some Basics
1. Under Board "Frequently Asked Questions" (FAQs) there are 3 sections dealing with General Forum Usage, User Profile Features, and Reading and Posting Messages. These deal with everything from Avatars to Your Notifications. Most general technical questions are covered there. Here is a link to the FAQs. https://forum.chesstalk.com/help
2. Consider using the SEARCH button if you are looking for information. You may find your question has already been answered in a previous thread.
3. If you've looked for an answer to a question, and not found one, then you should consider asking your question in a new thread. For example, there have already been questions and discussion regarding: how to do chess diagrams (FENs); crosstables that line up properly; and the numerous little “glitches” that every new site will have.
4. Read pinned or sticky threads, like this one, if they look important. This applies especially to newcomers.
5. Read the thread you're posting in before you post. There are a variety of ways to look at a thread. These are covered under “Display Modes”.
6. Thread titles: please provide some details in your thread title. This is useful for a number of reasons. It helps ChessTalk members to quickly skim the threads. It prevents duplication of threads. And so on.
7. Unnecessary thread proliferation (e.g., deliberately creating a new thread that duplicates existing discussion) is discouraged. Look to see if a thread on your topic may have already been started and, if so, consider adding your contribution to the pre-existing thread. However, starting new threads to explore side-issues that are not relevant to the original subject is strongly encouraged. A single thread on the Canadian Open, with hundreds of posts on multiple sub-topics, is no better than a dozen threads on the Open covering only a few topics. Use your good judgment when starting a new thread.
8. If and/or when sub-forums are created, please make sure to create threads in the proper place.
Debate
9. Give an opinion and back it up with a reason. Throwaway comments such as "Game X pwnz because my friend and I think so!" could be considered pointless at best, and inflammatory at worst.
10. Try to give your own opinions, not simply those copied and pasted from reviews or opinions of your friends.
Unacceptable behavior and warnings
11. In registering here at ChessTalk please note that the same or similar rules apply here as applied at the previous Boardhost message board. In particular, the following content is not permitted to appear in any messages:
* Racism
* Hatred
* Harassment
* Adult content
* Obscene material
* Nudity or pornography
* Material that infringes intellectual property or other proprietary rights of any party
* Material the posting of which is tortious or violates a contractual or fiduciary obligation you or we owe to another party
* Piracy, hacking, viruses, worms, or warez
* Spam
* Any illegal content
* unapproved Commercial banner advertisements or revenue-generating links
* Any link to or any images from a site containing any material outlined in these restrictions
* Any material deemed offensive or inappropriate by the Board staff
12. Users are welcome to challenge other points of view and opinions, but should do so respectfully. Personal attacks on others will not be tolerated. Posts and threads with unacceptable content can be closed or deleted altogether. Furthermore, a range of sanctions are possible - from a simple warning to a temporary or even a permanent banning from ChessTalk.
Helping to Moderate
13. 'Report' links (an exclamation mark inside a triangle) can be found in many places throughout the board. These links allow users to alert the board staff to anything which is offensive, objectionable or illegal. Please consider using this feature if the need arises.
Advice for free
14. You should exercise the same caution with Private Messages as you would with any public posting.
I don't think we can have a rational discussion if you believe this data supports your position.
So what are you going to say when you hit a case of 99.9999% vaxed and 1 of 2 unvaxed go to the hospital? "That it is still a pandemic of the unvaccinated"?
Did you know that people that were vaxed in the first two weeks are included with the unvaxxed? Where is the granular data that splits out the unvaxxed? https://www.health.gov.on.ca/en/pro/...us_ontario.pdf
Here is an article that references Govt data in the UK and Scotland that explains that many of the so called "unvaccinated" are newly vaccinated and that indeed during the first two weeks after vaccination the immune system is weakened and this group is particularly vulnerable

....
Fall of 1969 when I last took a course in logic, but, isn't the above called a reductio ad absurdum? Here's a silly-ass answer for your silly-ass question: *of course* it would be a pandemic of the unvaccinated - half of the world's population of unvaccinated people is in hospital with covid!

Whatever Peter, the logic holds. The reality is 75% of the patients in Ontario Hospitals are vaccinated. The narrative
that the vaccines stop infection and transmission is absolutely false.
Not treatable ...another lie
By the way, what did you think of Peckford’s article?

It has become clear that the best the vaccinations do is reduce symptoms. They are basically just pain-killers. They do not stop the contracting or the transmitting of the virus. We cannot go on forever taking three or four shots a year, sooner or later something will have to change. I still believe that we are in deep trouble, and expect a more serious, perhaps lethal variant to arrive in the not too distant future. Have fun while you can. In fact, it is time for some Lemmy.

Hi Brad,
I agree, the vaccines do not stop contracting or transmitting COVID, but I think they reduce both of these.
I guess I feel more optimistic than you. While we could definitely get a more lethal variant of COVID, isn't that true of influenza also? So I'm hopeful in the next few months, things will settle down. In this respect, omicron has actually been a good thing. It is milder than the other variants( likely an effect of vaccines providing some immunity plus native virulence), spreads quickly and thus enables more people to gain some immunity. In the last month, I've been seeing about 6 or 7 patients a shift with COVID. But the good thing is I've only had to admit 1 person. It just doesn't cause the lung issues nearly as much. And yes, the patient was unvaccinated, although to be fair, they had underlying diabetes as well.
So I suspect, like influenza, there will be annual vaccines for health care workers, high risk groups, and those who want it.
I've read some of the arguments about vaccines and therapeutics on this thread, but with any luck, these arguments will be moot as the crisis passes. In any case, time will tell, and I suspect in a few years, we will know which arguments hold water and which were crazy. I have my suspicions which ones will last!
I will say, and I've said this before, that any therapeutics, whether it steroids, antivirals, antibodies, or other unproven therapies, will have a very minor effect on COVID. The good thing is the virus has a very low mortality rate, so likely whatever you do, you will have a good outcome. I tell people to take zinc and vit D, it certainly doesn't hurt. But I can't say I've noticed any big effects on COVID...It strikes me as more important to be as healthy as possible and also there is some luck involved (probably genetic)

Dale,
Given that Sweden and Switzerland announced they are joining Norway, Finland, Ireland, Denmark, and the UK in ending all Covid restrictions I share your optimism that the Omicron is likely an endemic mild virus that will confer natural immunity to those that get it and that hopefully can be the final chapter. The good news is that early results show that it does confer immunity to the more virulent delta variant.
For nearly two years I have been saying that natural evolution dictates that the virulence of a virus is inversely proportional to its infectivity. and have stated that almost two years ago on this thread.
Viruses can mutate to be more lethal but they are very short-lived as it is an evolutionarily unfavorable trait.
From the beginning, I said that a vaccine that injects genetic material in the deltoid muscle then travels all over the body and uses the cellular machinery to use the genetic material to express spike proteins on the cell surface is problematic. The first problem is that the immune response is to induce an antibody that will include IGA immunoglobulins but not the all-important secretory IGA immunoglobins that are the first line of defense in the mucous membranes in the nasal passages. This is an aerosolized virus hence preventing infection or transmission is not physically possible. as the aerosolized virus invades the nasal passages that will not be primed with a secretory IGA immunoglobulin.
The "vaccines" were designed to induce antibodies to a very specific spike protein for the original sarscov2 virus that is long gone. The efficacy of these viruses that were quite good in the beginning wore off after six months once the delta variant replaced the original sarscov2 virus and even more so with the omicron variant.
The genetic code for the vaccines has coded for a different code for the spike protein then is found in the "wild type sarscov2. Specifically, it has added two side by side prolines in the s2 region of the spike protein that results in a misshapen spike protein that presents itself as a misshapen protein in the ace2 region on the cell surface. This can cause an intense autoimmune response that uses up ace1 enzymes that are involved indirectly in preventing blood clots and damage to the vascular system. Furthermore, evidence has been found that this misshapen protein on the cell surface can combine with other proins found on the cell surface and form fibrils that are your basic building blocks to all kinds of prion based diseases including Parkinson's, Lewey body dementia,
CJD aka mad-cow disease and so on.
I can list off many other longitudinal dangers of these vaccines but even one year in we have seen significant evidence that these are indeed some of the adverse events showing up with some vaccinated patients at an alarming rate. Frankly, I would not go near one of these vaccines with a Haz mat suit on.
As far as therapeutics go information about therapeutics has been systematically suppressed which has been proven to reduce the hospitalization rate by over 70%-80% according to many RCT's in addition to comparing countries that have embraced therapeutics to those that have not. Kudos to you for suggesting zinc and d3 to your patients instead of doing nothing as per the current guidelines and waiting for the patients to go to the hospital when they are blue in the face and at phase 2 of the COVID disease when it is too late to treat easily. Vitamin d and zinc makes sense as nearly all COVID patients are vitamin d and zinc deficient. However, that is only part of the story. Zinc on its own is not as useful as being part of a combo of compounds that causes a zinc ionophore so the Zn2+ ions have access to the cytoplasm and can interfere with RNA polymerase that stops viral replication altogether.
Many compounds are good at raising the PH of the endosomes allowing greater cell membrane permeability and creating an unfriendly environment for viral assembly and replication. this includes many flavonoids that you can get at vitamin shops including Quercetin, EGCG, or even Artemisinin. Used in combination with zinc d3 and C are excellent. You may want to consider vitamin K2 for patients that may be prone to hyper-calcification as part of the mix as well as bromelain as a natural antagonist to k2 blood coagulation properties. One of my favorite all in one compounds is offered by https://www.virex.health/index.php?r...&product_id=50 https://www.mdpi.com/1424-8247/13/9/228/htm https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31213101/
That being said given the mild nature of the omicron hopefully therapeutics will not be as vital as they were in the past for COVID.
The narrative that the SarsCov2 virus came about through natural evolution is false, It was created specifically to create a very lucrative business opportunity for Moderna et al. here. is the proof, https://newspunch.com/smoking-gun-mo...uence-in-2018/
For those of you uncomfortable with "Newspunch" here si the original scientific article by Dr Khan that the story is based on.
