Re: Eric is going over 2600 today or the latest tomorrow

http://new.livestream.com/chesslives...events/2833145 Eric has been getting alot of video commentary time lately. He explains nicely his win against GM Naiditsch. (it was all planned!) From about 3:50 onwards.

http://new.livestream.com/chesslives...events/2834909 Its nice to see young GM's like Robin Van Kampen and Eric Hansen as friends. Robin comments on his own game with tournament winner Li Chao and also on Eric's game against GM Olafsson starting about 315 on the video.

I never thought that GM Helgi Olafsson would survive against GM Eric Hansen. But good on him.

Magnus Carlsen's father Henrik was an honorary guest of the tournament. Turns out he's an ordinary tournament player. Maybe they should add his games to Magnus' app. If you cant beat Magnus you can console yourself by beating his father!

It was also interesting to see Viktor Pupols playing in Rejkjavik at age 80! - and good results drawing 2 IMs. Uncle Vik is one of the characters in the poem "The Rat" (about the Rat Defence) and played GM Duncan Suttles several times.

I've met Viktor at a couple of Washington events over the past few years. Had lunch with him and his wife about 2 years ago, very nice people.
