Say, if White plays Bxf5, will you take back with the knight or the rook?

    Something to think about.
Brick walls hurt, but are effective for banging against repeatedly. For future reference, cardboard walls are fun too :)

Sorry for being insanely overdue for the move, but the UK has finally decided on 16. Ne4.

                1. d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 Bg7 4. e4 d6 5.Nf3 0-0 6.Be2 e5 7. 0-0 Nc6 8. Be3 Ng4 9.Bg5 f6 10. Bh4 g5 11. Bg3 f5 12. exf5 exd4 13. Nxd4 Nxd4 14. Bxg4 Bxf5 15. Bxf5 Nxf5 16. Ne4

There was also talk over there of a draw offer. Something else to consider.

Could someone explain 16...Bd4? I don't really see the idea behind it. I find 16...Nd4 a move to consider.

                        Hi Alex:

After your recent victory over me at the Toronto Closed Reserves, it is with some hesitation that I offer my analysis to you, but here goes:

My idea is to put more pressure on f2, since the f8R is already trained on it once the file is cleared. Though it is well defended now, ...h5-h4 will get the B moved as a protector, or else we can simply exchange our N for it. This will pin down the N and R ( or one of them ) to some extent to keep guarding f2.

Let me know if you think my analysis has merit.

Maybe Caesar has something to add?

What do you see as the merits of ...Nd4?

                        Bob

16...Bd4 is a move consider. I am just nervous about a move like 17.Qh5, it looks uncomfortable. After some analysis, I think h6 is interesting. It defends g5, preparing Qd7 and completing developmment.

I would like to withdraw my suggestion of Nd4

I think Bishop at d4 puts more pressure on pawn f2 and blocks its futher development. Moreover, we receive a developped Bishop in the center (at good location).

                            :)

Just to keep things straight, Caesar and Bob vote for Bxd4, and Alex Florea votes for h6.
