            Chat Room discussion

            - How much money will players knocked out in Round 2 get?

            - 10,000

            - 6,000 for the first round losers

            - lires or rupees?

            - $$$ of course

            - wouldn’t mind getting 6,000 for being crushed by someone rated some 1000 Elo points above my level

            - 6,000 minus travel and stay expenses

            - ah right, I knew there had to be a catch

An unfortunate prediction, as Shankland didn’t even make it passed round 1.

The young Chithambaram Aravindh (India) defeated the experienced Michael Adams (England): after seven draws in a row, the Indian grandmaster managed to win in a second blitz game.

The dramatic match between Kacper Piorun (Poland) and Nijat Abasov (Azerbaijan) also reached the blitz stage. The players exchanged victories in rapid and 10-minute games, but Abasov proved stronger in blitz.

The participation of the youngest player Nodirbek Abdusattorov from Uzbekistan at the World Cup has been completed today after his loss to the Russian Maxim Matlakov in the first round. Despite this, the 14-year-old does not seem much depressed during the interview with the Press Centre.

‘I have played with world grandmasters before and I have no fear of their names. Yes, I’m out of the Cup but it’s my first experience and I’m very content. I wasn’t too strong at the end, made a mistake, but in general it was an equal battle,’ says Nodirbek.

It should be added that Nodirbek lost to Maxim Matlakov only during the tiebreak.

‘The organization of the Tournament is just excellent. I feel comfortable despite Siberian climate,’ adds the chess player.

Nodirbek also tells why he chose this kind of sport. ‘My father taught me to play chess when I was 4. Since then I’ve been moving forward and have already achieved some success.’

Nodirbek Abdusattorov got the title of grandmaster at the age of 13 years 1 month old. In the whole chess history only two chess players have obtained this title earlier than the Uzbekistan player.
