General Guidelines
---- Nous avons besoin d'un traduction français!
Some Basics
1. Under Board "Frequently Asked Questions" (FAQs) there are 3 sections dealing with General Forum Usage, User Profile Features, and Reading and Posting Messages. These deal with everything from Avatars to Your Notifications. Most general technical questions are covered there. Here is a link to the FAQs. https://forum.chesstalk.com/help
2. Consider using the SEARCH button if you are looking for information. You may find your question has already been answered in a previous thread.
3. If you've looked for an answer to a question, and not found one, then you should consider asking your question in a new thread. For example, there have already been questions and discussion regarding: how to do chess diagrams (FENs); crosstables that line up properly; and the numerous little “glitches” that every new site will have.
4. Read pinned or sticky threads, like this one, if they look important. This applies especially to newcomers.
5. Read the thread you're posting in before you post. There are a variety of ways to look at a thread. These are covered under “Display Modes”.
6. Thread titles: please provide some details in your thread title. This is useful for a number of reasons. It helps ChessTalk members to quickly skim the threads. It prevents duplication of threads. And so on.
7. Unnecessary thread proliferation (e.g., deliberately creating a new thread that duplicates existing discussion) is discouraged. Look to see if a thread on your topic may have already been started and, if so, consider adding your contribution to the pre-existing thread. However, starting new threads to explore side-issues that are not relevant to the original subject is strongly encouraged. A single thread on the Canadian Open, with hundreds of posts on multiple sub-topics, is no better than a dozen threads on the Open covering only a few topics. Use your good judgment when starting a new thread.
8. If and/or when sub-forums are created, please make sure to create threads in the proper place.
Debate
9. Give an opinion and back it up with a reason. Throwaway comments such as "Game X pwnz because my friend and I think so!" could be considered pointless at best, and inflammatory at worst.
10. Try to give your own opinions, not simply those copied and pasted from reviews or opinions of your friends.
Unacceptable behavior and warnings
11. In registering here at ChessTalk please note that the same or similar rules apply here as applied at the previous Boardhost message board. In particular, the following content is not permitted to appear in any messages:
* Racism
* Hatred
* Harassment
* Adult content
* Obscene material
* Nudity or pornography
* Material that infringes intellectual property or other proprietary rights of any party
* Material the posting of which is tortious or violates a contractual or fiduciary obligation you or we owe to another party
* Piracy, hacking, viruses, worms, or warez
* Spam
* Any illegal content
* unapproved Commercial banner advertisements or revenue-generating links
* Any link to or any images from a site containing any material outlined in these restrictions
* Any material deemed offensive or inappropriate by the Board staff
12. Users are welcome to challenge other points of view and opinions, but should do so respectfully. Personal attacks on others will not be tolerated. Posts and threads with unacceptable content can be closed or deleted altogether. Furthermore, a range of sanctions are possible - from a simple warning to a temporary or even a permanent banning from ChessTalk.
Helping to Moderate
13. 'Report' links (an exclamation mark inside a triangle) can be found in many places throughout the board. These links allow users to alert the board staff to anything which is offensive, objectionable or illegal. Please consider using this feature if the need arises.
Advice for free
14. You should exercise the same caution with Private Messages as you would with any public posting.
One drop off point for a county with more than 2.4 million registered voters across 1,700 square miles. One for a county with over 800,000 registered voters across more than 1,000 square miles. Truly pathetic.
Some great fact checking and reporting by Lucas.
Thanks and keep up the great work.
Most of the battleground states polls moved in Biden's favour this morning.
Georgia is now dead even, and Iowa is heading that way with Trump only up half a point.
Kerry, you just need to do some debate prep first. It is commonly believed that debate prep is only for the participants, but now with the toxic levels with Trump, the audience should be doing debate prep as well as a health and safety measure.
...
Thanks Bob. I will admit my prep was inadequate... woefully so.

Hey Bob, there is one possible scenario that hasn't been mentioned even in the media, unless I missed it. It would be Trump somehow winning the Presidency via electoral college (whether or not he wins popular vote) AND Democrats taking control of the Senate (and keeping / growing their control of the Congress).
In this scenario, I could foresee Trump eventually declaring a state of national emergency due to the fact that none of his policies can be enabled. He may try to overturn the Constitution and rule by decree. He would veto anything that Democrats pass through the Senate / House.
It would be a devasting outcome for the U.S., I just wonder if you have any opinions on what you think might come about from such an election outcome?

If Democrats control the Senate and the House, Impeach him again and this time Senate removes him from office.
Should take about 5 minutes. Done.
After you posted your comment to his twitter account ... provide a link for it back here ... LOL.
No idea who this guy is. Is he going to explain why these Trump supporters who have been retweeted by Trump are trying to stop black people from voting? Or maybe when in South Carolina in 2017 Republicans made an unconstitutional effort to "target African-Americans with almost surgical precision" and prevent them from voting? Or less than a year ago, when a Republican voting law in North Carolina was struck down because it was "impermissibly motivated, at least in part, by discriminatory intent" against black people? Maybe he'll explain the voter suppression happening today in Texas? I sure hope so, because it all looks pretty bad!

Because he has a fair and balanced opinion ... votes Republican and is a Trump supporter but also gives Biden credit when deserved. I think he would make a great politician.
Taking second or third hand hearsay about Trump and his relationship with the Black community (or even his tax reports) is irrelevant at best ...very damaging at worst.
Trump is not a racist. And his team is not racist. Anything but.
Just ask Kanye West.
The list is long and impressive of African American notables who have their own independent views on life and America in general who support Trump.
Same can be said of Biden, I'm sure.
Trump's track record with the African American community...
Unemployment ... 5.5% in September last year - the lowest figure recorded since the US Department of Labor started collecting these statistics in the 1970s.
Poverty rate was 18.8% ... lowest on record since the official count began in the 1960s.
Does it get better than that? Yes, it does. Trump's First Step Act for instance, ha! Trump has done more for the Black community than Obama / Biden ... that is for sure!
