General Guidelines
---- Nous avons besoin d'un traduction français!
Some Basics
1. Under Board "Frequently Asked Questions" (FAQs) there are 3 sections dealing with General Forum Usage, User Profile Features, and Reading and Posting Messages. These deal with everything from Avatars to Your Notifications. Most general technical questions are covered there. Here is a link to the FAQs. https://forum.chesstalk.com/help
2. Consider using the SEARCH button if you are looking for information. You may find your question has already been answered in a previous thread.
3. If you've looked for an answer to a question, and not found one, then you should consider asking your question in a new thread. For example, there have already been questions and discussion regarding: how to do chess diagrams (FENs); crosstables that line up properly; and the numerous little “glitches” that every new site will have.
4. Read pinned or sticky threads, like this one, if they look important. This applies especially to newcomers.
5. Read the thread you're posting in before you post. There are a variety of ways to look at a thread. These are covered under “Display Modes”.
6. Thread titles: please provide some details in your thread title. This is useful for a number of reasons. It helps ChessTalk members to quickly skim the threads. It prevents duplication of threads. And so on.
7. Unnecessary thread proliferation (e.g., deliberately creating a new thread that duplicates existing discussion) is discouraged. Look to see if a thread on your topic may have already been started and, if so, consider adding your contribution to the pre-existing thread. However, starting new threads to explore side-issues that are not relevant to the original subject is strongly encouraged. A single thread on the Canadian Open, with hundreds of posts on multiple sub-topics, is no better than a dozen threads on the Open covering only a few topics. Use your good judgment when starting a new thread.
8. If and/or when sub-forums are created, please make sure to create threads in the proper place.
Debate
9. Give an opinion and back it up with a reason. Throwaway comments such as "Game X pwnz because my friend and I think so!" could be considered pointless at best, and inflammatory at worst.
10. Try to give your own opinions, not simply those copied and pasted from reviews or opinions of your friends.
Unacceptable behavior and warnings
11. In registering here at ChessTalk please note that the same or similar rules apply here as applied at the previous Boardhost message board. In particular, the following content is not permitted to appear in any messages:
* Racism
* Hatred
* Harassment
* Adult content
* Obscene material
* Nudity or pornography
* Material that infringes intellectual property or other proprietary rights of any party
* Material the posting of which is tortious or violates a contractual or fiduciary obligation you or we owe to another party
* Piracy, hacking, viruses, worms, or warez
* Spam
* Any illegal content
* unapproved Commercial banner advertisements or revenue-generating links
* Any link to or any images from a site containing any material outlined in these restrictions
* Any material deemed offensive or inappropriate by the Board staff
12. Users are welcome to challenge other points of view and opinions, but should do so respectfully. Personal attacks on others will not be tolerated. Posts and threads with unacceptable content can be closed or deleted altogether. Furthermore, a range of sanctions are possible - from a simple warning to a temporary or even a permanent banning from ChessTalk.
Helping to Moderate
13. 'Report' links (an exclamation mark inside a triangle) can be found in many places throughout the board. These links allow users to alert the board staff to anything which is offensive, objectionable or illegal. Please consider using this feature if the need arises.
Advice for free
14. You should exercise the same caution with Private Messages as you would with any public posting.
In my previous post I indicated that, because of personal experience, I am convinced that there is a creator.
I have no trouble theorizing that He may prefer to intervene as little as necessary in the world, so that sound scientific laws normally rule and proceed like clockwork.
You should read (if you haven't already) "Life On The Other Side" by Sylvia Browne. It explains why "terrible" things may happen to us (we planned it that way ourselves) and why there is very little intervention. And, of course, it explains reincarnation; Sylvia herself is living something like her 57th life (I can't remember the exact number). It's the only explanation I've heard that makes sense out of everything.
I'd be very interested to hear your personal experience. You can private message me if you like, I won't disclose anything you don't want me to.
Only the rushing is heard...

I once saw a show on past and future life regression done under hypnosis, so her book makes sense at least from her believing in reincarnation.
I also once heard a radio show about relegion. A woman 'called in' and 'theorized' that people who haven't been that bad nor that good are reincarnated, rather than going to either of the well known places. Later on I thought I recognized that woman's voice as my guardian angel's, but I'm not at all sure. In other words, I think I may have heard something that didn't actually transpire, but was meant for just me.
In my own case my memories of a past life came to me around 1990, along with a flood of other significant memories (e.g. seeing a cross on the sun when I was a boy in my present life, and apparently 'being made' to quickly forget). I had better tell you, for the sake of honesty, that I am considered to be mildly schizophrenic, but what convinces me that what I've seen over the years is something more than hallucination is the fact that it involves very detailed images and feelings (e.g. ordinarily inexplicable pain), often conforming with religious beliefs that I did not hold at the time.
I'd rather not to go into too many more details, which would be terribly sensitive, except to say that, odd that you bring it up, something terrible did happen in my previous life. I hope it's not too alarming or unwise to at least mention that evil just doesn't beat itself, and is often underestimated. For example, the Nazi regime had more than one satanist in its ranks. What happened to me in my last life involved evil.

Looking at my previous post I now realize that I didn't give you too many new details of my experiences (in case you've read a previous post of mine in a much older thread).
I can recall now some other details that I would guess are reasonably alright to mention.
Back in about the late 1970s to early 1980s I was at one point almost all by myself in a gaming club room at Carleton U, here in Ottawa. Almost, except what I thought were two students with backpacks talking at a nearby table. They were talking about something obscure that happened long ago (later I realized it was something I was intended to overhear). As my attention finally wandered, I looked away in another direction for not more than a handful of seconds. When I looked back, no one else was in the room. The only exit was behind me, where I had looked when my attention wandered.
Something similar happened about the same time period, later in Brampton, where I resided at the time. I was walking when I met what I thought was a man I knew from my local chess club. As we were really close together, he asked me if I believed in the bible. I didn't answer, being startled, and we continued walking past each other for not more than a couple of seconds. I turned around and no one was there. He and I had been in the middle of a field.
In about the early to mid 1980s I was in my library at Erindale College, Mississauga, of U of Toronto, being a student there, and I happened to see a one page typed letter there. Curious I picked it up and briefly read it. It had religious content, of the sort I was highly sceptical about. It ended oddly with "Who says God doesn't have a sense of humour?" (I can't recall anthing else about it). I put the page back down where I found it, and turned away for a few seconds. I looked back and there was no piece of paper there (sometime, perhaps days[?], later on the process repeated itself with a more sinister letter that I remember nothing concrete about). I subsequently forgot about both letters. Years later, around 1990, I was wondering to myself whether God had a sense of humour. Then I remembered the end of the first letter.
About the mid 1980s I was staying up late and on a lark I tuned to a random channel and there happened to be what I thought was a TV preacher. At first I thought he was just funny, but as I was about to change the channel he asked me not to. He then told me all kinds of details about my life, as if to prove who he was. Then he told me a problem, related to something in my past life, that he in fact wanted me to simply pray to solve. Then, for hours, I watched bits and pieces of what turned out to be my life in the future. Regrettably, I didn't know the context. At some point this 'tape' ended and I seemed to have totally forgotten that I ever watched it or saw this 'TV preacher'. Until 1990 or so. Then I started to remember what I saw, but only after each event of my life on the 'tape' actually happened over the years, as though I was seeing some sort of milestone. As far as I know, what was on the 'tape' has not yet finished happening in my life.

This is called Skizophreny (normaly a Skizophreny-Bipolar mix). I have seen it on three different people in the past. Probably you have these strange experiences on period of stress.
Normaly in a few years you should start to ear voices in your head. When nobody will be present in the room, you will talk loudly with the voices. Your mind will convince you that you have a special skill and special missions (if religion is present in your life).
Be careful, while you are still a bit lucid, you should see a doctor about it. They have new medecine simply fantastic to fix the problem before it evolves. If you let it evolves, when the doctor will take your case they will have to go with very strong medecine which will put you on a slow motion for some years.
Stay away from any religion anyway. In a modern society it is a sign of lack of personal evolution. You have all the tools today to be happy in your life and not scare about death. Artificial beliefs in ridiculous gods should not be necessary in your life to keep you balanced.
Good luck with this.

Paul, with all your immature comments on Jean, we could see a strange man. Now you talk about reincarnation! Come on.
Reincarnation and gods were useful when the global population could not read, went to school 3 years in their life like our grand-parents used to.
But today... cooooome on. We are in 2009, wake up.

Kevin, thank you for posting this, I'm sure you are mature enough that the comments of Carl Bilodeau are like water off a duck for you.
According to Sylvia Browne, we plan our Earthly lives out to great detail before we come here. We do this in cooperation with each and every person (soul) that will cross our path, so that each event is part of their plan as well. It seems incredible, but where we come from, incredible things are possible. Once we inject ourselves into the Earthly physical world, we are purged of memories of where we came from and the planning that took place. However, sometimes the memories can return to us unexpectedly at the time an event is happening. This is an explanation for the feeling of deja vu which most of us have had at one time or another. What you describe as seeing a tape of your future life could have been you being reminded (perhaps by your spirit guide) of your plan for your life, to what purpose I can't guess. Sylvia does often write that the entities of the other side find it easiest to communicate to us through electronic means (radio, phone, TV) and that time can be suspended because time doesn't exist on the other side.
A few more things Sylvia discloses in the book I mentioned: the "other side" for Earth isn't far off in outer space, it's actually in the same "space" as Earth itself. It exists at such a high frequency that we have no means to detect it. She writes that there are countless planets in the universe, each with their own "other sides" occupying the "space" of each planet. I believe she writes that all these "other sides" can interrelate and communicate, and that there is a creator God of all these other sides who is both male and female (two... two.... two mints in one! old Certs commercial!). Interestingly, modern physics finds that there is plenty of space between the subatomic particles, that 3D space is actually empty of anything "solid", there is nothing real except energy, force and frequency, etc, and this allows for what Sylvia describes. I'm sure you've heard of "Dark Matter", the missing mass of the universe, and again, if we presume that what Sylvia describes has mass, but is undetectable to us only because of frequency, then it could be this Dark Matter.
Interesting too is this: Sylvia Browne is a professed psychic, although I'm not sure she likes that word. When we think of psychics, we think: if they can predict things, why aren't they predicting the next winning lottery numbers and getting rich? Her explanation is that those gifted with predicting certain future events are "blacked out" from predicting anything to do with their own personal lives. Sylvia has had I think 2 divorces in her lifetime (she's about 70 now). She had no guidance from her spirit guide or her own gifts to help her decide what was right for her life. Like all of us, she must remain ignorant as to what she planned for herself in her present life.
Only the rushing is heard...

The talibans have the same way of life they had 2 thousands years ago.
When people here continue to believe in stupids magical thinking it makes me understand why it took so many centuries for our society to get modern like we are now.
There was still a lot of people like you 30 years ago. In 30 years there should be very little.

Perhaps you should tell that to Berkley Astrophysicist Professor Alex Filippenko...
he states that even the laws of physics are a strong argument for the existence of God. But then again a Berkley Professor can't have any 'personal evolution'...
Am I the only one laughing while reading some of the previous posts? The talibans don't have the same way of life they had 2000 years ago. Otherwise they would still be fighting with swords and rocks... You should open yourself a little bit more to the world outside.... A lot of people in this region have Internet, some have cars and they have Nike shoes too...

I imagine you meant schizophrenia... I know more than 3 chess players in Quebec that are schizophrenics and some are well-known... And it isn't at all as you describe it and what happened to Kevin (or what he imagined, if you prefer) isn't necessary related at all with schizophrenia.
But as Paul said, I'm pretty sure Kevin is enough mature to just ignore your belligerent comments...

Thank you Felix and Paul for your support. At least Carl's concern for my health is not completely misplaced. If he had carefully read one particular post of mine in this thread, I admitted there for the sake of honesty that I am in fact considered mildly schzophrenic, i.e. I have seen doctors over the years (naturally I would have been concerned for my health when I didn't always know what was going on). As a result I am classed as disabled, though I am hoping that this and other things will change in the not too distant future.
In fact I have had the odd encounter with 'voices', long ago, and I half expect them to possibly resurface in the future, no matter how much stronger a drug I might be given. I was in fact 'told' long ago (i.e. not by worldly doctors) what the more malevolent voices were in my particular case, and that these and other tricks or sensations (e.g. occasional pain) would never be more than I personally would be able to bear in the long run, especially since I was going to have help.
Regrettably I suspect many/all people who are labelled as schzophrenic often have no idea what they are up against. They are just given more powerful, often harmful, drugs, and the malevolent voices wait till a particularly opportune moment to return. This has happened in the case of someone I know.
In my case, when I tell a doctor that I once saw a famous image, broadcast on CNN, about 16 years before it happened, he just blinks dumbly like Homer Simpson when he does not comprehend something. It does not compute for aethistic medical science, so he ignores the data or considers it invalid.
I once went under hypnosis as an alternative way for a doctor to attempt to figure out what might be going on. When I came to he was sitting there apparently trying to look composed, but he was quite pale. He just sent me home, with no new drug prescribed.

Most of us, including probably this professor, comes from familly where the parents or grand-parents only had a grade 3 primary scholl education. In the case of this professor, his children will have many other source of information than their father thoughts. It takes 1 or 2 generations.

....
A scientific team showed why some people see images they think they have seen in the past. It is the brain that register the image you have just seen in the long term memory and in the short term memory and this cause the Dejà vue Experience. With electrods they can reproduce it on any patient. In your case it is then probably a result of Skyzo-electric stimulation.
See "The Deja Vu Experience" by Alan S. Brown, one of the specialist on this subject. He has published a review of questions in Psychological Bulletin (N° 129). I read a lot of scientific magazines. Look on the web if can find this study and show it to your doctor.
I have a close friend that ear voices and talk with them. He doesn't want to see a doctor because he is convince he has a special skills. He doen't listen to my advice and the best I could do to help him is to invite him for sport which is known to help a lot.

A lot of people in this region have Internet, some have cars and they have Nike shoes too...
...
Some wear Nike shoes in Afghanistan! Then Must I conclude Afghannistan is an industrialised country or that some sell drugs to industrialised countries? I spent many years in the Canadian Army many years ago and my collegues Officers tells me that anybody that eats with a fork and a knife can not understand how late these people are.
No need to follow me like this. I want more tournaments for kids and more clubs from our paid FQE employees. With not a single youth long game tournament last year, our kids in Quebec could not get any long game motivation between them to get prepare for the CYCC in Victoria, so we had 6 and Ontario had 51 players there.
In my opinion there was a conflict of interest where one of the FQE employees was paid by FQE and using the FQE ressources while he was organizing tournaments for himself and this pissed-off benevoles in Quebec. FQE changed this policy immediatly after the scandal came out which is a good news for our taxes. Even you call on French Chesstalk for a boycott of OUR Montreal Championship by Montrealers was a very cheap shot from you to punish benevoles.
