Some Basics
1. Under Board "Frequently Asked Questions" (FAQs) there are 3 sections dealing with General Forum Usage, User Profile Features, and Reading and Posting Messages. These deal with everything from Avatars to Your Notifications. Most general technical questions are covered there. Here is a link to the FAQs. https://forum.chesstalk.com/help
2. Consider using the SEARCH button if you are looking for information. You may find your question has already been answered in a previous thread.
3. If you've looked for an answer to a question, and not found one, then you should consider asking your question in a new thread. For example, there have already been questions and discussion regarding: how to do chess diagrams (FENs); crosstables that line up properly; and the numerous little “glitches” that every new site will have.
4. Read pinned or sticky threads, like this one, if they look important. This applies especially to newcomers.
5. Read the thread you're posting in before you post. There are a variety of ways to look at a thread. These are covered under “Display Modes”.
6. Thread titles: please provide some details in your thread title. This is useful for a number of reasons. It helps ChessTalk members to quickly skim the threads. It prevents duplication of threads. And so on.
7. Unnecessary thread proliferation (e.g., deliberately creating a new thread that duplicates existing discussion) is discouraged. Look to see if a thread on your topic may have already been started and, if so, consider adding your contribution to the pre-existing thread. However, starting new threads to explore side-issues that are not relevant to the original subject is strongly encouraged. A single thread on the Canadian Open, with hundreds of posts on multiple sub-topics, is no better than a dozen threads on the Open covering only a few topics. Use your good judgment when starting a new thread.
8. If and/or when sub-forums are created, please make sure to create threads in the proper place.
Debate
9. Give an opinion and back it up with a reason. Throwaway comments such as "Game X pwnz because my friend and I think so!" could be considered pointless at best, and inflammatory at worst.
10. Try to give your own opinions, not simply those copied and pasted from reviews or opinions of your friends.
Unacceptable behavior and warnings
11. In registering here at ChessTalk please note that the same or similar rules apply here as applied at the previous Boardhost message board. In particular, the following content is not permitted to appear in any messages:

* Hatred

* Nudity or pornography
* Material that infringes intellectual property or other proprietary rights of any party

Helping to Moderate
13. 'Report' links (an exclamation mark inside a triangle) can be found in many places throughout the board. These links allow users to alert the board staff to anything which is offensive, objectionable or illegal. Please consider using this feature if the need arises.

14. You should exercise the same caution with Private Messages as you would with any public posting.

I guess not... It seems if a thread gets hijacked or is even started OT, if it garners enough momentum, it lives. Meh.

No, the balls really do break. The only optical illusion is the "rising fastball" - it doesn't actually rise, but because it doesn't fall as much as others (it "breaks upwards") it appears to rise.
The curveball functions as an optical illusion in that it travels in a regular parabolic arc, but appears to break sharply as the batter changes in tracking it from direct to peripheral vision. You can try it out for yourself here.
Injuries suck but every team has them. I remember reading a stat somewhere about the injury comparisons between all 30 teams but I forgot the details. In summary, fans of their own team always believe that their team suffered more injuries than the average baseball team but... that usually isn't the case.
I used to get a pair of tickets. One of the guys who writes here had seasons tickets and I used to be able to get tickets for a few times a season. Decent seats between home and third base. For those early seasons games I took my son. When the weather warmed my wife liked to go.
The best seats I've ever sat in were at the Skydome behind the catcher. I could see the balls break after the pitcher threw. It's not an optical illusion, in my opinion.

In cricket you have fast bowlers (fast), spin bowlers (slow) and seam bowlers (medium). A great over-simplification, but the seam bowlers could certainly make the ball move "off-the-seam", with quite significant breaks. Something to do with the angle of the seam and the trajectory....never fully understood the physics, but I suppose it's like why a curling stone curls. But I'm not going there.

IIRC it was "Biceps Tendinitis" - with quotes. Which means they really didn't know what was causing the problem, only what the symptom was. And they didn't trade Henke, the Rangers vastly outbid the Jays for him as a free agent.
Henke seemed to regularly have a hard time getting a satisfactory, for him, contract from the Jays. Seemed like they though he was easily replaceable.
In any case, I seem to recall Henke pitched longer than Ward. Maybe 1995.
It was a lot better team to watch than in the first Jay season at Exhibition stadium in the spring. Like sitting in the stands for Winnipeg Blue Bomber playoff games as far as cold went.
1994 was the strike year and the World Series was cancelled so we held the championship for an extra year.
I never really understood what Wades' bicep tendinitis was but wondered if he blew something out. In any case, trading Henke wasn't the greatest move the Jays made because then didn't have either of them.
It should be a decent team this year but I'm always leery of players who have served long suspensions.
I don't know if you've ever taken PED's but they make a difference. I've taken some of them with Chemo and could almost, but not quite, feel like climbing tall buildings. When coming off them it can be a big letdown.

As for Cabrera... he tested positive in exactly the same way as Ryan Braun was last year (elevated and/or synthetic testosterone). Getting caught (and getting out of a 50 game suspension only on a technicality) didn't really seem to hurt Braun much this year - in fact, his numbers were remarkably similar to his 2011 MVP numbers, with even an increase in home runs.
